Orson Welles's unmade film on the life of Christ

Does anyone have any more information on Welles’s proposed film on the life of Jesus, presumably to have been shot after “Citizen Kane”? I only know what seems to be the most reported things: that he would’ve starred, and it would’ve been shot in the Mojave desert.

Personally, I think it would’ve been quite something to see!

hmmmm,

this topic isn’t really “about” Citizen Kane, now is it?

When I read the title of the topic, I thought you were slyly referencing La Ricotta, by Pasolini. Sorry, no info on Welles’ own film on Christ.

actually according to the book This is Orson Welles, he approached Chaplin about playing Christ, that mighta worked.

“I try to be a Christian, I don’t pray really, because I don’t want to bore God”

“In my opinion, there are two things that can absolutely not be carried to the screen: the realistic presentation of the sexual act and praying to God”

I can see it now, Welles as Christ and Hearst as one of the pharisees, Judas or Pontius Pilate.
