I’ve gotta go with:
Breaking Bad season 2
Mad Men season 3
Mad Men season 4
Mad Men season 5
Party Down season 1
Honourable mentions to the other seasons of Breaking Bad and Mad Men, and to Arrested Development, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Freaks and Geeks.
Also, every single season of Jeopardy! because it’s awesome.
OK let’s see…
Twin Peaks Season 1 and parts of Season 2
Carnivale 1&2
Wonderfalls
Dead Like Me 1&2
Louie Season 1-3
Sherlock Seasons 1&2
Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett) Seasons 1&2
Breaking Bad Season 1
Boardwalk Empire 1&2
that’s what I can think of off the top of my head…
Seinfeld (5 or 6)
The Twilight Zone (2&3)
Lost (1)
Buffy ( 1&2)
I Love Lucy (1)
Matlock (3 don’t be a hater)
Arrested Development (2)
Friends (2)
The Office (British series 1)
Six Feet Under (3. But I have only just started watching season 4)
Dexter (3)
Soap (2)
Freddy’s Nightmares (2)
Friday the 13th: The Series (1)
I’m sure there’s more. I’m a Tv junkie.
I’ve watched all my television series on dvd/on-demand, so the differentiation between seasons is meaningless to me.
But Lost sucked after Abrams left.
The Wire is the most consistent.
Sopranos and Mad Men have the greatest heights.
The rebooted Doctor Who has all kinds of unexpected treasures.
Breaking Bad deserves the Rossellinil Prize for Made-for-TV
Six Feet Under: Season1
Six Feet Under: Season 3
The West Wing: Season 3
The West Wing: Season 7.
Seinfeld: Season 5
The Worst Week Of My Life: Series 1.
The I.T. Crowd: Series 2.
The I.T. Crowd: Series4.
Red Dwarf: Series 2.
Red Dwarf: Series 3.
In no particular order:
The Wire Season 2
The Wire Season 3
Deadwood Season 2
Mad Men Season 4
The Sopranos Season 4
The Sopranos Season 5
Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 5
Deadwood Season 1
Father Ted Series 3
Mad Men Season 3
I really need to broaden my scope.
@Jerry
When did Abrams leave?
In no particular order:
Slings & Arrows Seasons 1-3 (One of those rare shows that is great throughout its entirety)
Veronica Mars Seasons 1 and 2
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Seasons 2-6
Doctor Who (New Series) Series 4 and 5
South Park Seasons 3-8
Damages Season 1
My So-Called Life (first and only)
Homeland Season 1
Glee Season 1 (Yes, I’m serious. It’s all WAY downhill after that, though.)
And at least one season of The X-Files, but damned if I can pick one. I can’t really remember which episodes went where.
Honorable Mention to the second seasons of Grey’s Anatomy and True Blood, both of which bring it for the finales and some incredible high points, but also have quite a bit of shit to trudge through.
I realized doing this that I don’t have a huge TV vocabulary. I didn’t watch The Wire or The Sopranos, and don’t watch Breaking Bad or Dexter. Mad Men is mostly “meh” for me. I like it but don’t LOVE it. And I like a lot of comedies but I tend to think of them in terms of individual episodes instead of seasons (otherwise I probably would have found room for Absolutely Fabulous, Black Books, 30 Rock, Will & Grace, and Friends)
Twin Peaks Season 1
Friday Night Lights Seasons 1 & 4
Breaking Bad Seasons 3 & 4
Mad Men Seasons 1 & 4
The Wire Seasons 2 & 3
30 Rock Seasons 1 & 2
Arrested Development Seasons 1 & 2
Community Seasons 2 & 3
Freaks & Geeks Season 1
All in the Family Season 1
The Sopranos Season 4
Louie Season 2
Girls Season 1
I AM NOT COUNTING MINI-SERIES
clone high s01
the sopranos s06
the office (uk) s02
parks and recreation s02
home movies s01
freaks and geeks s01

Mad Men S.3
Mad Men S.2
Plus some of those mid-90s seasons of Seinfeld & The Simpsons, but I couldn’t tell you which one is best.
Oh and The Wonder Years! I’d probably go with the first season, but that series finale was unforgettable.

@ AmericanWaterGummo:
Yeah…I forgot about Freaks and Geeks….loved that show….all 19 episodes of it.
