sorry about the size.
So by the sound of it, Rubens was the Tarantino of the 17th century? ;)
Anyway, this is a painting by one of my favorite artists Caspar David Friedrich. Nobody painted a landscape like this guy:

Yeah that’s a great Leonardo, it’s a pity he was less inclined than Michelangelo to see many of his projects through. Rubens was certainly greatly influenced by the magnificent Titian, but in his own right one of the very greatest artists, influenced Delacroix and others in turn, no comparing in stature with shallow Tarantino
Well, I didn’t think anybody would take it that seriously. :D

Josh, we live in a world where Tarantino is more famous (and probably admired) than Rubens.
Ah that Bouguereau fits in with what i’ve got :
Van der Weyden: Deposition

True, but you can argue any painter is less known than him.

A reproduction of Leonardo’s lost masterpiece. I believe that this is Rubens’ sketch of The battle of Anhiari, which he copied from Leonardo’s original before it disintegrated completely. Probably Leonardo’s best work, and perhaps his most important, and is the primary influence for Rubens’ best paintings which are also among the greatest of all paintings. Rubens stole liberally from Titian and Leonardo, but at least he had good taste.
