They come as double packs: Late Spring + The Only Son, Early Summer + What did the Lady Forget?, Tokyo Story + Brothers & Sisters of the Toda Family. The Only Son is on the blu-ray, but is not noticeably above DVD quality, whereas Late Spring certainly is. (Haven’t checked the others yet)
the only son is quite clearly high resolution,the problem lies with the source print .many pre war films from japan suffered damage through neglect and other reasons[ww2]

That was no accident, as there are homosexual subtexts in Ozu’s films as well.
A Freudian slip maybe? I must have somehow mixed up David Ehrenstein’s claims that both Ozu and Bresson are gay and posted on the wrong thread.
