Arabian Nights will be released in 27 April 2009 on DVD (£14.69 at amazon.co.uk) and Blu-ray (£17.59 at amazon.co.uk) by the ever great BFI.
All of Pasolini’s films deserve quality releases.
Wow nice, thats not to long. But, it seems to be Region 2. =(
Christopher, Criterion is set to release Pasolini’s Trilogy of Life in a box set later this year: The Canterbury Tales, Arabian Nights, and The Decameron.
Ah BRILLIANT! I can’t wait, I like Pasolini’s subjects, they make me want to be disturbed.
Arabian Nights is the only one of the Trilogy of Life films worth seeing. The Decameron and The Canterbury Tales are both very poor imo.
But buy Arabian Nights, the best of the trilogy.
I must disagree with you Clovenhoof. While Arabian Nights is visually amazing, The Decameron has to be best. All films are very dense, but wonderful if you can get through them. I can’t get over Pasolini’s final lines in The Decameron and Canterbury.
Netflix has the trilogy on instant play, a viable option for those wishing to see them. And yes, the lack of quality Pasolini releases is appalling.
I really enjoyed The Canterbury Tales. A lot of fun.
Just saw Arabian Nights last night on Netflix. Now I have to see The Decameron and Canterbury Tales again. And Salo is looking pretty tempting as well, though it’s not on Netflix. (I know it’s a Criterion release.)
Arabian Nights is stunning! Beautiful. Netflixers say its poorly acted. I disagree. No Oliviers obviously, but there’s a lot of heart and soul in the performances by this amazing cast of nonprofessionals.
the older i get, the more i prefer the Pasolini films made before he developed his trademark ‘style’.

I want to see this but it seems the DvD release cost 120 dollars used and 400 dollars new. (Amazon) Hmmmmm….
Is there any chance this is going to be released soon at a reasonable price or are there any online sources, possibly?
