Besides well-known names like Kiarostami, Panahi, Farhadi, are there any other Persian directors who deserve my attention? Would you help me to deepen my knowledge of Persian cinema? Any movies to suggest? Than you in advance!

Thank you House Of Leaves, I’ve just checked your list. I agree with the first user who commented on your list, you should definitely check out Asghar Farhadi, he’s a great director in my opinion. It would be nice to hear from the Mubi’s Persian community, so they could track a short list, let’s say 10-12 movies, to retrace historically their cinema. Not necessarily the best movies, but the most significant. For example, who’s nowadays the director who manage to really describe the complexity of Iranian society? As an European I’d be really interested to discuss on those issues…

In adition to what others have suggested, I’d say more Kamran Shirdel films… And I cant recall many films at the moment. You can check my list on Iranian cinema if you like.
