Here’s another thread. It looks like this is the one I was participating in:

dude thanks, im new here, i see you are very much attuned and seem quite informed
appreciate your attention
i ve seen it when it came out in the cinemas, it did stir me but recently, somehow out of the blue (one of those moments when you wanna revisit some stuff over again) it corresponded to my ongoing state of mind and emotion.

Yeah, it’s not a film that immediately blew me away when I saw it in the theater. But after six months or so, I was still thinking about it and wanted to revisit it. Then I saw Secret Sunshine, which I really liked and it made me appreciate Poetry even more.

yeah secret sunshine was very touching too
there is one Japanese picture called The Mourning Forest (2007), equally arresting, wouldnt say it’s in a similar vein with, but it truly made me go thru the phase of catharsis:)

I don’t think I’ve heard of that. I’ll have to check it out.

It’s a wrenching film, one of the more painful I’ve seen in a really long time. Kind of reminds me of Dancer in the Dark. Thought the writing was brilliant.

It’s touching and gentle, yet seriously screwed up.

My favorite film of that year. Really powerful stuff.
