Porno Melodrama (2011) is my debut short, premiered at Berlinale Panorama 2011 and still continuing to travel around the film festivals.
Being the first Lithuanian “gay film”, it provoked (together with my public coming out) a huge scandal in Lithuania, but nor there nor elsewhere it didn’t get many interesting reviews/analysis/interpretations yet… Since it’s now available on MUBI.com, and this forum has a reputation of gathering many cinephiles, I decided to try ask you to discuss my film!
To start a conversation, I’ll hint that for this film I was inspired by Douglas Sirk and such queer filmmakers as Almodovar, Fassbinder, or Haynes, that reworked the genre of the melodrama.
