the most passionate and amazing and powerful performance of one song i’ve ever heard (10000x better than album’s version…)
ODILONVERT — Awesome stuff… I only discovered Dead Meadow for the first time a few days ago.
DOWNBYLAW — Wow, I really enjoyed that.
The Laurels:
& a bit of avant-garde:
Josh, those are good. I see that one of the recommended songs that comes up after that Laurels is from The December Sound. Have you listened to them? They did one fantastic album four years ago, and then I figured they had disappeared. However, they played a few shows in 2011 on their local turf, so maybe there is a chance they will record some more too.
I’ve been looking for sounds like Modern Witch.
Phantogram is still one of my favorite go to bands for some late night listening.
Ah, thank you for posting that Phantogram song! I must have overlooked it a while ago because it is great.
I’ve never heard of The December Sound, but I will definitely have to check them out.
Josh, that other Phantogram song I posted a few months ago was from their first album. Shortly after that they released an EP, and “Make a Fist” is on that. I keep all Phantogram in high rotation—love that stuff.
Nice call with the Clams Casino—I’ll be listening to that. I see that he is on the same label as Holy Other which Spectrelight put up a few days ago which was interesting too.
Hope Sandoval will be bringing Mazzy Star to Coachella which should be cool. I used to listen to them a lot a long time ago. On Massive Attacks’s Heligoland she sings “Paradise Circus” which is probably my favorite track on the album:
Evian Christ – MYD
^ Ah, Royal Trux. I haven’t listened to them in ages.
Sorry, I accidently posted my songs twice.
The mistake has been fixed now.
for some reason i’m feeling all 70’s romanian folk
The Residents singing in Spanish on their latest album
DOWNBYLAW — That will be awesome to see live. My friends are always playing the Zed’s Dead remix of that song but you can’t beat the original.
For some reason i’m feeling Romanian folk and silver-fanged boars
For some reason i’m now feeling ickle girlie US harpists, monkeys and bears
For some reason i’m now feeling all Mexican and wolves
For some reason i’m now feeling Australian and i’m 7 again and the world is comforting and i can picture the nice folk singing women who came to stay
and the guard is letting me wave the flag and the train leaves the station. I never in a million years thought life would go this way
Lynch would like the video, Tom Waits would have liked to write the song.
Mark Lanegan Band – “The Gravedigger’s Song” (2012)

I’m now fascinated by the Seekers. This farewell concert was 1968, Jimi Hendrix or Austin Powers it ain’t. The lead singer is Judith Durham- i would know that singing voice anywhere.
The carnival is over; how prophetic- 1968, the year the dreams of a better world started to unravel.
The very good band The Cancer Conspiracy.
