Josh, yeah amazing indeed. As you would expect, she is something to see live. Although I think she could probably be intense just sitting and reading a book.

I didn’t know that Prolapse. Pretty cool. Here’s an album from just a few years earlier that I used to listen to a lot:

DOWNBYLAW — I’m not really a fan of Prolapse but I do like that song. Never heard of The Mekons, I’ll have to check them out.

Here’s some awesome dreamy vocals from The High Violets:

Oh, I looked up Prolapse because I didn’t know anything about them and saw that song was from 1994. Don’t know why, but that somehow reminded me of that Mekons album. I guess the Mekons started out as punk, then onto post-punk. I never listened to any of their earlier stuff, but I did have The Mekons Rock’n’Roll which was from 1989. Whole album is great and I used to listen to it all the time, quote lyrics, and all that. Kind of wonder now why I didn’t ever track down anything else from them.

Don’t know The High Violets either, but that’s a good sound. I’m definitely into that sort of dreamy female vocals.

I drive alone, home from work
And I always think of her
Late at night I call her
But I never say a word
And I can see her squeeze the phone between her chin and shoulder
And I can almost smell her breath faint with a sweet scent of decay
She serves him mashed potatoes
And she serves him peppered steak, with corn
Pulls her dress up over her head
Lets it fall to the floor
And does she ever whisper in his ear all her favorite fruit
And all the most exotic places they are cultivated

In 2007 Collide teamed up with Dean Garcia of Curve and put out an album under the name The Secret Meeting. This is stuff I could listen to all night; I wish they had done more. I didn’t find a video for “Blacker Than Blue” which is my favorite, so here is “Beautiful Noise Machine”:

They do have a cool looking website where you can stream samples of the songs and read all the lyrics. Everybody should do this.

Uh, I should learn not to tempt people. So it’s either time to go hunt for the razor blades, or maybe play a song from The Asteroids Galaxy Tour who I saw last night. The clear crowd favorite:

(Actually, that Yonderboi is pretty cool. And I certainly don’t have anything like in my music collection.)

I love that song very much (btw, its Nicholson’s voice, you noticed it l believe :p ) but the rest of their work no

Yes, but I had to go hunt down the scene because I sure couldn’t remember the film. This song is rather better than that film was. The glory of sampling.
