Bob was great . . . and didn’t even make it this far.
As expected, The Ting Tings put on a high energy show. Everybody dancing and having great fun.
They really ought to make a video for “Guggenheim”:
.
Ruby, interesting that you put up that Nicolas Jaar just tonight. I had tickets for The Ting Tings at the Fillmore. Jaar was at the Independent. And Sunday night even. Who schedules these shows? I didn’t do nothing Friday or Saturday night.
Speaking of the Ting Tings:
Yeah, alright.
I didn’t know a thing about Yo Gabba Gabba! before they showed up on stage with King Khan and the Shrines at Coachella. They fit right in with King Khan’s kind of craziness:
I’ve been looking at some youtube videos of Maria Joao Pires the Portuguese classical pianist, and came across this very awkward moment
Elton John has a new album The Diving Board out in the autumn; mainly a trio of him, Raphael Saadiq on bass and Jay Bellerose on drums, produced, like The Union, by T Bone Burnett
Don’t really know anything about either of these bands, but after hearing these infectious tracks, I’ll definitely be listening to them:
Good finds, Josh.
Yeah, maybe Kloaks is trying one of those “stealth” promo campaigns.
The guys in Ceremony were in a band called Skywave a decade ago with Oliver Ackermann who went on to form A Place to Bury Strangers. So Skywave might be worth tracking down, too.
I don’t find enough dubsteps where I like both the underlying song and the remix. But I’m happy with this one:
^That is a good one—and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t really like dubstep.
Former Dum Dum Girls, Katie Serbian Brouillette is releasing her new project Cheap Curls’ debut 7″ on Art Fag Recordings this spring.
Have the Dum Dum Girls broken up??
Yeah, I think I like the idea of dubstep better than I like most results in practice.
Well, the Dum Dum Girls have a full tour going this spring. They play SF with one of my local favorites—Tamaryn—on 22 May, but I might be out of town then. Oh, it looks like they have a new bass player
I like that Cheap Curls song.
Here’s some Tamaryn for you:
Oh, good to hear :) ^That’s a beautiful video, perfect fit for the song.
The Magic Wands have me all sorts of excited for their forthcoming debut album, Aloha Moon (drops April 24th). I am totally smitten by this song:
^Oh yeah. Sign me up too. 24 April—I just added it to my calendar.
jeff
but looking at the page it looks like they’re almost there. cool
