@DownByLaw
Glad you like it. That’s the first Broadcast song I’ve heard—I definitely hear the similarities between the two. It’s sad to hear the singer passed away—love her voice.
The Laurels’ debut album Plains is coming soon (July 13), so I thought I’d get myself psyched and post one from them. Here’s “Changing the Timeline”:
Have you heard this one yet?
@Josh
Yeah, that is sad about Trish Keenan.
Got me, an instant convert for the Laurels, so I just put their album release on my calendar. Now I’m hoping that a new album will be a reason to do a North American tour. What would be a killer show is if they hooked up with the Black Ryder who is supposedly finishing up their second album in July to be released??? So a winter tour perhaps…
I have been listening to “Belispeak” and love it. The only one I didn’t know was the new release that JSAEZ posted. Purity Ring is just so exactly my kind of music that it is crazy. They are going to play in this little club in SF that is kind of an awkward shape for live music. But whatever. I’m going to be right up at the stage—I’m so psyched for this show. Ehh, September.
So Josh, you posted a song by Yacht a while back. Do you listen to their albums? They are playing out here at the big festival in Golden Gate Park this summer, so I got them in the mix. More than anything else, they remind me of the sensibility of this band from the late 80’s or early 90s that I think was from Baltimore or something called Bongwater. So here is one of their songs:
Psychedelic Sewing Room
But if you are going to check out Bongwater, you gotta hear “The Power of Pussy”. Youtube has the video behind their nannywall, so I don’t know how the link works. But it’s a great video.
The Power of Pussy
Pnau have given Elton a makeover for Ibiza and summer. I didn’t like this much at first cos Curtains, sampled here, is one of my favourite Elton songs, but i’m coming round, and i like the video.
Know the section of Le Plaisir with the old guy dancing in a mask? that’ll be me at Ibiza.
