Werckmeister Harmonies (Bela Tarr) 100/100. This will be the cinema reel in my mind for what I would rate others for quite a long time.

The other day I watched Carlsen’s HUNGER (1966).
90/100

As a starving writer myself (not as starving as Oscarsson’s character thank goodness, haha) I can sympathize with the cycle of creation/literal and metaphorical starvation illustrated in the film. I thought the realism was nearly maddening (in a good way) and Oscarsson’s performance was top notch.

Adam – I have that MST3K set as well and I love it. I think Future War is my favorite…just for all the flannel and cardboard. I’m excited about the set they are rolling out in February as well. Final Justice and Soultaker!

Kung Fu Panda, 3 stars out of four; another enjoyable CGI comedy from the best year in animated films in ages.

Step-Brothers – 6/10

Liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I guess it’s pretty bad, but I have to admit it had me rolling at some points. Not a bad throwaway, dumb comedy if you’re bored and in the mood.

Hitchcock never lets me down, and Cary Grant is a very pretty guy. I’d lick his eyelashes. That’s not gay, right?!

Ugetsu
10/10

The elements of the Noh Drama— the makeup, string music, and chanting— all blend to create a ghost story that is uniquely haunting and surreal.
