The Quiet American (1958)
Breathless
Man of the West
The Wind Will Carry Us
Lancelot du Lac
In the last week I have purchased the following…..
That Obscure Object of Desire(Criterion)
Synecdoche, New York
No Country For Old Men
Being John Malkovich
Eastern Promises
I bought my Mum Kismet!
sweet – the last movie I bought for my mother was Sabrina
My dad bought me (I’m not 12, but I do have a generous father (financially, not so much emotionally, but that’s a whole other subject)) Spirited Away, and The Flowers of St. Francis.
I just got Days of Being Wild, Wedding Banquet, and The Red and the White by selling some DVD’s on amazon. To be honest, I don’t have the money to spend right now, so, almost all of the films I’m seeing right now are from the library.
Tell your father to adopt me — I’m past needing emotional support!
I scored three Criterions in the last week…
The Red Shoes
The Most Dangerous Game
Fiend Without a Face
The heartbreaker in all of this is my futile attempt to find enough time to watch one.
Hell’s Bells: I just realized there’s a copy of Hitchcock’s Lifeboat sitting on the shelf, unwatched since before Christmas. Also Insomnia and Children of Paradise and Koyaanisquatsi.
I need a vacation to catch up on my viewing.
Cheers,
Steve

Jordan – Good choice on “Let the Right One In.” I’m trying to scrounge up some loose change for that one myself. I found some good pics at Costco the other day including “Treasure of the Sierra Madre” and “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane.” Also picked up “When the Levees Broke” and an old horror film called “Q: The Winged Serpent,” more so for nostalgic purposes than anything else.
Generous within reason. When he has thirty bucks he’ll spend it on me rather than himself, but these days we rarely have thirty extra bucks to “waste” (his words not mine) on DVD’s. These are the only DVD’s he’s bought in the last three months, not that I think I’m entitled to any more.
I admire you’re ability to not need emotional validation, though.
Thanks, I was being a little bit facetious though.
My Stalker DVD I ordered came in the mail this week. Also at Target I bought Synecdoche, New York and Happy-Go-Lucky. Both were surprisingly cheap for new releases.
I bought the Criterion of Hard Boiled on eBay, and I’m planning on picking up Seduced and Abandoned tomorrow.
Lester- Thanks. Really great film. It seems you had a nice haul yourself, especially with “Sierra Madre”, “Baby Jane”, and “Q”.
Shoeshine (though it’s in PAL and I can only watch it on my PC…I’m 48, and I’m a PC)
Synecdoche, New York and I’m Not There
Breathless in-store & Stalker+Mirror online at Barnes and Noble.
just bought Synecdoche, New York and The Fall last night…planning on picking up Rachel Getting Married soon
the last two movies i bought i have yet to watch and have never seen, so basically you’d all better be right about these, AuteurUniverse!
Irreversible and The New World. they were both cheap, they looked good, and i’ve read enough about them to think its worth the money.
right. cheers. thanksalot.
A book store in town is closing and I got Jules and Jim and La Strada (both Criterion) for $15 each. Get Smart Season 2 is next on my list ($17 at Target through tomorrow!)
Today I purchased: Cleopatra Jones & The City of Gold, Howard the Duck, Dodeskaden and the new Eclipse set Shimizu. Haven’t gotten around to watching anything yet.
Yesterday I bought the ANDY WARHOL ANTHOLOGY (11 films!) from Raro Video’s ebaystore for like 50 EUR. I’m really excited :)
Let The Right One In and Synedoche New York-2 of my favs from last year
Rachel Getting Married which I hadn’t seen and after I watched it resold it on ebay. Not a movie I will ever watch again, very disappointing.
Red Cliffs 1 & 2 John Woo’s new films.
My last Ebay craze:
Egoyan’s The Adjuster, Larry Clark’s Kids, Godard’s Two or three things, A Married Woman, Masculin Femenin, Carmen, Detective, Les Carabiniers, Tout va Bien, Nolan’s Following, Desplechin’s My sex life… , Brackage’s An Antology (criterion) and The Early Films of Peter Greenaway.
Now I can’t afford to eat…
I just got Berlin Alexanderplatz for 50% off yesterday at Borders here in Austin. I got the Herzog Kinski box set for about $40 at the same store a couple of weeks ago.
nice score Alfredo G. I heart my BA box.
Jose Sarmiento, I sympathize — I go into debt to accrue my film library.
my most recent purchases (there haven’t been too many unfortunately);
Spirit of the Beehive
Sword of Doom
The Small Back Room
Audition
Calvaire
I’m watching Let The Right One In tonight and I have a feeling that this will be my next. : )
I ordered the eclipse set-Mizoguchi’s fallen women
Kurosawa’s dodeskaden
and Raymond Bernard’s eclipse set with Wooden Crosses and Les Misrables
Jason, I’d like to get that Mizoguchi set too, just because so few of his 300 films have made it to home video.

Again, sorry if this has been done already. Feel free to condense this if need be, anyone with the power to do so.
Anyway, just post your recent DVD/VHS/laserdisc/film reel/etc. purchases.
Tonight I bought:

Rachel Getting Married
