The Adventures of Antoine Doinel
Fanny and Alexander (box set version)
Scenes From a Marriage
Dodesukaden
I finally reached that point in every young man’s life when one’s fancy turns to Bergman movies, and after reading about Dodesukaden it seems like Kurosawa’s winking at me from his place in the past, beckoning me inward, deeper into the void.
I capitalized on the Criterion deal at Barnes and Noble and bought Cries and Whispers, Au hasard Balthazar, and Ali: Fear Eats the Soul. I also bought Persona.
From the sale, picked up Man Bites Dog, the new edition of For All Mankind, and Simon of the Desert. Plan on getting more soon. The selection was limited.
And then today, I found The Shining in the clothing store I work in (yep) for $4 (Cost me less thanks to employee discount). Thought that was too good a price to ignore.
Barnes and noble sale was very excellent. I purchased:
Seventh Seal (bought the old one a month before they announced the new one)
High and Low
For all mankind
Playtime
Divorce Italian Style
3 penny opera
Vampyr
Trafic
Simon of the desert
Science is fiction
Planning to get: Bicycle thieves, Missing, My dinner with Andre, yiyi, wages of fear, onibaba.
Barnes and noble will be making quite a bit of money from this sale, though it makes me wonder how low of prices do they purchase them for. Bulk saves I guess. Time to open Minkin’s house of Criterions I suppose.

I don’t buy too many DVD’s but Costco had Warner Bros. first film noir box sex on sale, so I picked it up. I also got “All About Eve”, “Chinatown”, the Budd Boetticher Box set, and “Walkabout”. This is the biggest DVD binge I’ve been on in about two or three years. My birthday and Christmas should result in about 14 Criterion titles thanks to the BN sale.
Picked up CORALINE and 300: Ult Edition on Blu ray this week. I have REPULSION coming next week on Blu ray.
The Five Obstructions. Fan-fucking-tastic.
God I wish I had money.
