I picked up Hiroshima Mon Amour and The Best Years of Our Lives today.
Vengeance is Mine
WR: Mysteries of the Organism
Grey Daisies, Horse Thief has a DVD release? I have been dieing to see that film.
This week I bought the Criterion Bergman trilogy! My true acquisition though was I got the three t-shirts I made online (a Kubrick one, a Persona one, and a La Dolce Vita one).
Battlestar Galactica season 2.0 and 2.5 – the best frakking sci fi series ever.

@Drew: Yes, Horse Thief has been released by Guangzhou Beauty Media. I don’t expect a Criterion-like transfer but at least it’s english friendly. The DVD should be here in a week or so.
I have a mistress called music, so I must share my movie-buying resources; especially with those Blue Note and Music Matters 12" 45s of classic jazz albums coming out. Anyhoo, in the last month or two I’ve added these to the family jewels:
Earrings of Madame de…
Army of Shadows
The Ballad of Narayama [I love Imamura]
Herzog/Kinski boxset
Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Vampyr
Two-Lane Blacktop
Chungking Express [Blu Ray; nice lookin’]
Grand Illusion
Pinocchio [Blu Ray]
Mizoguchi’s Fallen Women [Eclipse box]
That’s about it for awhile. Spring is here, summer’s coming and that’s my music buying season. Autumn and winter are for movies; I don’t know why it just feels right. Of course I do buy both music and movies “out of season” if I find something good.
My mother-in-law just came in from New York and brought us used copies of ‘The Happening’ and Notes on a Scandal’ Can’t wait to watch that one. Me likes Cate Blanchett and Dame Judi Dench!

Hou Hsiao-Hsien: Cafe Lumiere (2003)
Masaru Konuma: Tattooed Flower Vase (1976)

Asia Argento: Scarlet Diva – The Heart is Deceirtful Above all Things
I found an unopened copy of Elevator to the Gallows at my local used record store today. It was only $10. Needless to say, I bought it, though I haven’t seen the movie. But 10 bucks for a brand new Criterion? It would be a sin not to buy it.
Got dvds of DAYS OF HEAVEN, BADLANDS and POLERGEIST today, all for 10 euro.
Birdie – That’s a great one. I remember the drive home with my, “complete dossier” I felt exactly like Martin Sheen going down the river. Except instead of being on an assassination mission from the U.S. military I was going to spend the next three hours watching a movie instead of looking for a job, and contributing to society.
I just got Kino’s “Three Soviet Classics.” I’m really excited to see Pudovkin’s “The End of St. Petersburg.”
The Last Metro, The 400 Blows, Goldfinger, Marley & Me, Tell No One, Pitch Black, Slumdog Millionaire, South Pacific, An American in Paris – All on Blu ray.
I picked up the new Criterion release of the Third Man
The Borders 50% off clearance is awesome. I just picked up Late Ozu, au hasard Balthazar and The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi / Sonatine double feature for less than the original price of the Ozu set alone.
I recently bought The Gradaute and Raging Bull, and received the Essential Art House DVD of Wild Strawberries as a gift.
Coffee and Cigarettes, didn’t realize it was oop.
The 400 Blows – Bluray
Shoot the Piano Player
The Matrix – Bluray
Hard Eight
Let the Right One In – Bluray
@ Alfredo, where is this borders that has 50% off?
Stalker (couldn’t wait for a criterion)
Le Samourai
The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford (this movie is freaking phenomenal)
I too would like to know about this Borders 50% off sale…
All 3 Borders in Austin are having this sale. I think almost all of the Borders in the U.S. are clearing out the majority of their movies and music sections.
I don’t suppose if anyone would know if this goes for the Borders in IL too?
Grey Daisies, what is your source for Rossellini?
Senso
Ossessione
Summer Scars
George Washington
The Believer
The Testament of Orpheus
The Boys in the Band
Chimes at Midnight
Gotta Let This Hen Out!
Exodus
Nazarin
A Double Tour (aka Web of Passion)
Crazy White Boys
I did great today. I convinced my parents to take me to this little DVD store about an hour away from my house. I got Decalogue which I have been looking for everywhere for $75 which is only $5 dollars off. I got Saraband for $15 which is pretty cheap. And my ultimate find was the OOP Ran for only $25! It didn’t have the OOP sticker so the store didn’t know yet and they marked it way down because I guess they had a lot. Most of their OOP DVDs are twice the price of the original and I got mine $15 off.
It always feels good to get a good OOP.
from the borders sale which went from 40% to 50%, I got Nashville, Scenes from a marriage, Traffic, Le Feu Follet, Broadway Danny Rose, Seven Samurai .. that leaves a big dent in the pocket…
Alex Noble
I recently added Breathless to my modest collection
