I bought Marie Antoinette . . . I’m not the film’s biggest fan, but I love Sofia Coppola’s visual style – and it was only $7 at Best Buy. Hard to beat that price.

Most recent Criterion purchase was Two Lane Blacktop. Somewhat disappointing. Perhaps it will grow on me in time.

Most recent non-Criterion was Master & Commander Blu Ray

was thinking about getting the JCVD dvd but it looked like a small independent company was distributing it which makes me question the quality of the product, plus there didn’t seem to be that much in the way of extras ( I heard the Uk version is far superior). but the price was only only $12 @ walmart…is the dvd worth it?

also looking to get Benjamin Button on Tuesday for $25.99 via Best Buy

FYI to people who have a little bit of money. Barnes and Noble must be hurting because the following films are available there for either 5 or 10 bucks:
-Blue Velvet
-The Dreamers
-The Last Picture Show
-Last Tango in Paris
-MASH
-Paths of Glory
-Roma
-The Serpent’s Egg

And those are just the ones I remember. I already own the last three on that list and would love to buy the others but I have very little money and I want to save it so I can at least get one of the upcoming awesome Criterion releases in June. But anyone not saving and on a budget head over there.

I bought The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on Bluray (Criterion). As shocked as I was when I saw that they were putting it out, at least I can say that they have made what appears to be a very good disc. The transfer is absolutely astonishing to watch, but, then again, it’s a very new movie, so it’s not like it needs to be restored, or anything (although I have seen some bluray discs of newer movies where the tranfers have been less than thrilling). I know it’s not a perfect movie, but at least it’s well-made.

I went on a Frankenstein binge.

I got the Universal Legacy set with Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein, Ghost of Frankenstein and House of Frankenstein.

Then I got the Parker Posey/Michael Madsen Frankenstein, Kenneth Branagh’s Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Corman’s Frankenstein Unbound with Raul Julia and John Hurt.
