If you like Kubrick and Malick, and you don’t mind subtitles, you should check out Tarkovsky. Start with Stalker and see where it takes you.
It’ll take you to The Zone :)
Thank you. I’ve seen Stalker and most of Tarkovsky films (Solaris, Stalker, the Sacrifice, Andre Rublev). I hold these films in high regard but they just aren’t favorites. Normally my favorite movies I can watch over and over again with ease. I need to check out The Mirror though. Sorry, but I feel like I’m going to be saying that I’ve seen a lot of these recommendations. So surprise me :-)
Oh, try Marketa Lazarova then. Or Valley of The Bees, or The Red & The White, or maybe Diamonds of The Night.
Actually, comedies are good for re-watch value. Maybe check out Songs From The Second Floor or Flickering Lights or Gregory’s Girl for some you may not have seen.
I was about to say Marketa Lazarova.
Check out Children of Men or Y tu Mama Tambien if you haven’t. When I was in a movie rut, Alfonso Cuaron pulled me back in.
The 3 Gaspar Noe films, he is the first famous director which the biggest influence on him is Stanley Kubrick.
johnnyyy
Currently I like Kubrick, Malick, and Paul Thomas Anderson films. I’ve seen their all their films. I’ve also seen all of the Coen Brothers films, whom I used to like a lot but I’ve lost interest in recently. I’ve also seen a lot of film in general, last year I watched over three hundred films that I had never seen. I ended up watching a lot of foreign and older films.
I’m having trouble finding some films that are my favorites. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to make a top 10 favorite films list. I feel like I’m in a rut that I can’t get super attached to a film. Can you all help recommend me great films I haven’t seen to watch so they can find a special place in my heart? Thanks.
