seen it…Will Ferrell as a soccer dad. I cried. Christopher…your assignment is to watch AMERICAN PERFEKT by Paul Chart.
Afraid you’ve got the wrong K & S there dude – try again.
Sorry, I completely didn’t see Criterion there…or maybe you edited it in. I thought you were joking with me. I am downloading Criterion’s Kicking And Screaming now to watch it.
Yes?
I LOVE Noah Baumbach’s Kicking and Screaming- brilliant. It kills me that everytime I mention it I have to say, not the Will Ferrell piece of shit. That film will never get the attention it deserves because of it.
Joriah – I’m not sure that Noah Baumbach’s film isn’t getting attention because of the Will Ferrell movie. Did anyone really know about it before Will Ferrell stepped in? Nope. I haven’t seen the Ferrell film, and I didn’t much care for the Baumbach film. For the most part, the type of person that would be into the Ferrell film would never know about the Baumbach film even if it were called “Post Graduate Syndrome”.
lets do this.
While you’re at it, can you also pick our noses for us?
While you’re at it, can you also pick our noses for us?
You see what happens when you make us pick our own noses?
Nathan- sadly that is true, the only reason I stumbled upon it was because I had to double check and see what the hell it was doing in the Criterion Collection, then I saw that Noah Baumbach wrote and directed it, I enjoyed the Squid and the Whale and love Wes Anderson, so I decided to check it out mainly out of curiousity, but I must say, I really enjoyed the dialouge and delivery, the film itself was really just a hole for a bunch of catchy, yet, pointless dialouge, which in turn is probably why a lot of people don’t enjoy the film, it’s so careless that it seems like a waste of time, and hell maybe it is, but in a tiresome way, it makes me smile.
Ok, hit me.
Daniel, all due respect, but who died and made you schoolmarm of the wild west?
Travis, your movie is TARGETS (1968)by Peter Bogdanovich.
TJ, your film is Quentin Tarantino’s first black and white film MY BEST FRIEND’S BIRTHDAY. You can watch all of it on YouTube if you can’t find it anywhere else.
Emily, your film is HELL RIDE by Larry Bishop.
OK. As long as it’s completely obscure, but available on Netflix or Youtube or such.
Justin, I am going to assign you with TARGETS (1968) by Peter Bogdanovich also. I want to earn your respect. This film will earn it if you haven’t seen it.
Which Justin? Me or Vicari?
You.
All right. I’ve heard of it but know absolutely nothing about it. Top of the Netflix queue.
Wait… did I show any disrespect? Didn’t mean to if I did.
I may play another day, but Targets is a good one. Parallel storylines that … , nah, I won’t spoil it. But, look for Karloff’s reaction to his own reflection.
I’m cherry picking from other people’s recommendations. Props on picking movies available on youtube and google, Daniel. I watched all 36 minutes of My Best Friend’s Birthday. I almost bailed after 10 but I’m glad I stuck with it. It’s fascinating to see how Tarantino had an ear for sharp dialogue and kinetic song choices back before he even had a career. It’s only part of a movie and messy at any length but it has some cool scenes and shows flashes of real talent that Tarantino would bring to later features. Thanks for the suggestion.
Ohh I want in. Hit me Daniel.
Caitlin, watch TRAINED TO KILL U.S.A (1975) by Daniel J. Vance. A groovy grindhouse flick!
No problem Jay. Glad you enjoyed my movie pick for ya. Let me know when you want to come back for another movie.
Hit me!
Alright Aaron…your film is Kirk Douglas in MASTER TOUCH (1972) by Michelle Lupo. An Italian safe-cracker! You can watch it at this site: www.veoh.com/collection/dramainthepublicdomains/watch/v66071533QZrBr6b#

It is this simple:
1. Just leave a post and I’ll reply back with a movie assignment for you to watch.
2. Watch your assigned film and take good notes of things you liked and disliked.
3. Post a new thread on the film you watched with your critique of it.
4. Come back to this thread for another assignment. It is fun when the movies are picked for you.
