Frankly, she was not that great of an actress, but that is no reason not to salute a fallen artiste. Rest in Peace Ms. Murphy

Sad. Really sad.

What is going on? I mean life is short but this is getting weird, she was not in the caliber of Heath Ledger but this is getting to be really sad. The term life is short is getting more and more real each and every day. Rest in peace and my heart goes out to all who cared and loved!

Agree with Mike, not a great actress but still very sad to see people die at such a young age. It just seems to me that people in the limelight are dying at an increasing rate, but maybe that’s just me noticing more.

I think it’s just unexpected that any of us could die at any time. Actors were dying young 50 years ago as well. I don’t think there is an increase necessarily…. I also agree with the sentiments above. I think she was an okay actress, but it’s sad to see someone die so young.

what good is repeating that she wasn’t a great actress??..if you are gonna mourn, just mourn..don’t criticize..
I will always remember her as that pretty girl in sin city..

…wonder how this will effect Sin City 2 and 3?

“….wonder how this will effect Sin City 2 and 3?”

Not a whole lot, and not nearly as much as Ledger’s death affects Nolan’s rumored “Trial of the Joker”.

I’m sad to see Brittany Murphy go, she wasn’t bad and she was pretty, and was in some enjoyable movies.

As for dying young, that’s the thing about death. It just happens. The human race is working on it, and we hope to have successfully evaded death in about two centuries or so. Zardoz knows.

Now they definitely can’t continue King of the Hill. There’s no way they could recast Luanne’s voice

I don’t think she was a bad actress at all. I definitely enjoyed her presence on screen. FREEWAY, CLUELESS, and KING OF THE HILL were all great with her in them.

She was great in trixie and she added a lot of charm to
silly films like uptown girls

I don’t think she was a bad actress. In fact, I think she had potential to be great with a lot of work. She will be missed.

She could’ve been great in a Tarantino film… Really sad, what are the putting these talented actors
through in Hwood? Seems like these guys are put
through border line inhumane physical strain in some of
these action oriented movies. Too bad…

It’s the strain of having too much money and leading empty lives.

Well said, Law. And an adequate final statement. I don´t really think we need a thread to lament the death of a celebrity.

PolarisDiB

Eh, celebrities are humans too and it’s just as bad to devalue them as such as it is to overvalue them as such. Brittany Murphy certainly wasn’t bad, though I cannot say that she “could have gone on to do great things” or anything like that. For most of America, her death should be shocking mostly because of her age (and possibly because flu was involved, or something). For the most part on this site, nobody seems particularly rent in half by the loss of her, I think this thread is more of a “Hey look, isn’t that strange?” sorta thing.

Hey, when one of our key exports die, yes, we lament!

@PolarisDiB
-exactly,why do people persist in dehumanizing actressess? Acting can be a noble pursuit, can’t we lower the level of sarcasm when a beautiful woman has died?

Law

What does her beauty have to do with this?

Law

And if she did lead an empty life like many actors and actresses do, I am sorry for her.

Maud's Son

While beauty may be a facade, facades and beauty, however shallow they may seem, are important and bring joy to humanity. We humans can be deep but we are also stupid shallow animals that like shiny pretty things. Beauty doesn’t equal vapid personality. It’s sad when something beautiful is destroyed,it’s true no matter what you say.

I have friends that know actors- not that big name though you would recognize them- and they thought the same as you b4 they got to know some of them. Alot of actors are highly professional, disciplined people.

Law

I know actors too. The problem is not acting, it is getting rich. We’re not saying that she definitely had an empty life, we were commenting on actors in general, who get sucked into the system of consumerism and alienation.
