Love The Hustler. That high-contrast, smokey black and white cinematography is gorgeous, not to mention amazing performances from Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason, George C. Scott and Piper Laurie.
I have never seen The Color of Money, though. One of a handful of Scorsese films I haven’t seen.
Color of Money is interesting. It’s no Hustler. But then again..what is.
“Lilith” is a masterpiece. Jean Seberg said he knew he was dying when he made it.
If you haven’t seen Lilith, you should.
The ones I love the most are Lilith and The Hustler. I first saw the Hustler when I was 20 (and arrogant like shit) and that was a life changing experience. It is very unfair that he is such a neglected filmmaker.
Looking forward to Lilith very much!
Am I the only one who immediately thinks of Bebe Neuwirth whenever I see the name “Lilith”?
Maybe….?
Casey
What do you think of the man who gave us “The Hustler”, “All the King’s Men”, and “Body and Soul” – just to name a few.
TCM is broadcasting his last film “Lilith” this weekend. Haven’t seen. But I love all those films I mentioned.
