Seven Samurai Remake, anyone?

I guess if they can do it well, maybe they should go for it. I don’t know though. Sometimes, or maybe a fair amount of the time, the remakes are mostly terrible. I have also seen the Magnificent Seven and I didn’t care for it that much. I thought the acting was not the greatest, even though there are some good actors in the movie. Maybe it was kind of predictable. I have heard though that sometime the remake can be better. I’ve heard that 3:10 toYuma is better than the remake, but I’d have to see both of them to compare them fairly. I think, in the case of an original movie being better than the remake, I think Yojimbo is a lot better than a Fistful of Dollars, even though I love For a Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly after following Fistful.

Seven Samurai has been remade a bunch of times. I don’t mind remakes so much when they are in different countries because I find the cross in culture and the resulting gaps pretty interesting (The Magnificent Seven, The Departed, etc).

Hell, even Pixar basically remade Seven Samurai. Ever seen of A Bug’s Life?

UDFF, I thought I was the only one to notice. I loved that film as a kid, and remember getting pretty immersed in the story – helpless ants being harassed by ruthless grasshoppers, only to be saved by a mismatch band of ex-circus bugs. I think that’s why Seven Samurai resonated so much with me when I first saw it. And now, over ten years after watching A Bug’s Life, Seven Samurai is my favourite film.
