As you know, I like this a lot, Uli. Keep it up and I hope others watch and comment.
I may load up a piece called Night Tender I did in 93, and another piece called Mindless from 96
As you know, Uli, I loved this! :)
anyone else? like it? hate it?
no one wants to rip the film?
Not really. I actually like it. I can rip on it if you want me too.
I just want people to watch it, like it or not and comment on it. Discussion is good
What I like best about it is that what you see is a result of what you hear. you can see the entire story in your head. What I see to day in most independent productions is that there’s always too much emphasis on what you see and directors should really take advantage of that fault and create something different and worth the time to watch, which in your case, you have.

Great job Uli. You know I made some more specific comments personally to you with some feedback, but I’m so glad you were able to make this. Any success on film festival entries?
No, I submitted to just three, there is one other I may submit to, the Santa Barbara Film Fest, and it’s my home county fest, so maybe that will help.
Wish you much luck, Uli!
Thanks, Odi, now make other people watch it on YouTube and stuff
Watch Uli’s movie, people! :D
Thanks :-)

feel free to comment, good or bad

Very Good. Very interesting idea, never would have though of that.

Echo this, Uli, which is why I found it so fascinating. Which is also why I think you need to submit to other festivals.
I also love the spinning long takes. great job
I watched it once last night, and am currently watching it yet again. I really thought this was very, very great. From a technical standpoint, to acting. The voicework is chillingly good, and the lead actress is very expressive in her subtle facial choices. The direction is what stands out to me though – from your choice in cinematography (which could have been heavy-handed, but remains just fatally heartbreaking) to the way you let it all play out so raw. I LOVE THIS, seriously and want to see even more work from you.
Interesting contrast with the brutality of the dialogue and the serenity of the ocean breeze.
I found it a bit repetitive and sometimes did not quite appreciate the actress’ facial expressions — sometimes seeming a bit artificial imho.
Also, I thought it was unique the way you have managed to develop an entire narrative, in a single location, entirely in V.O. …
I thought the color and tone of the image was very professional looking and the camera movements were smooth and invigorating — however, after ten minutes, I did find it a bit repetitive.
However, overall, I thought it was a great job and I was happy that you shared your short with all of us.
Cheers.
I understand the question of repetitiveness, and that was part of the of the plan, to show how the same actions wore down Lena to the point she had to make a change, and to show how she was locked into the sexual nature of the relationship.
The conversation with her brother shows that Lena has fallen into the cycle before, and the ultimate action, whether right or wrong, is about hopefully breaking that.

12 minutes and a comment won’t kill anybody.
Uli , you should submit this to Garage. LA can then share it via You Tube and get some more eyes on it. Personally, I wouldn’t expect too much response on the forum. Of all the times I’ve seen it done, there’s never been much.
I believe I already responded to this via pm a long while back unless this is something else.
Den, I’m saying not the one’s who I sent it to but everyone else.
