Ah, I guess I don’t have expectations, or super low ones. Because my films are not narrative (with the exception of Letters), and experimental, whenever they do get viewed on a consistent basis (which surprisingly they do), I’m always sort of shocked.
I guess it’s easier in a sense to go into the sort of film I’m going into because you know you’re making films that will be viewed, as a matter of course, by a smaller audience. Even though surprisingly, my youtube account gets hits almost every day, but I have a feeling people stumble on my stuff quite accidentally most of the time. Still. My work gets viewed, and that’s the reason I put it out there.
What number would you be happier with?… Just curious.
Remember, I had to cause an uproar to get people to view it.
Start calling people and they’ll look at your stuff. And if people hear are so up and hip, why aren’t they looking at more avant garde, experimental stuff? You have a point of view and put it out there for people, but even people here, ignore it. Maybe Mubi isn’t the open-thinking place some people want to think it is.
Your hard work should be recognized Odi, maybe the film snobs here, just can’t hack what you’re offering.
Lol, it’s ok Uli. I’m the type of person who likes to take my time, I’m not in a rush to get anywhere and it’s very important to me that I grow organically and solidly — which is very different from the academic schooling I received over the years.
The most important thing to me is that I keep working, and constantly. There is so much to learn, and more refining to do to more clearly express my voice.
Actually these little itty bitty films that I am doing for the STL video thread are a good exercise for me because they’re kind of like sketches. When I’m too tired to do something heavier, I can keep practicing my skills and playing. I don’t know how people do the huge six years to make a film thing. I’d totally lose touch and interest. I have to do something with video at least every 2 weeks or so. One thing I have learned over the years, and that’s how I work. This is invaluable when you create, because you will never put yourself under some other person’s expectations, and you only work according to your own. Mine are to be in constant touch with my tools and to keep myself from getting bored by working at something creative all the time.
Anyway, blah blah blah. This is your thread, lol!
I have no problem helping you keep your film on top of the forums so it gets more views. :D
The thread may be based on the watching of my film, but it ain’t my thread, it’s everyone’s thread to discuss the film or creating works, but as it partly became, how we critique work as well.
The aspects of process is always fun to discuss.
^ Process — my absolute fave!

just hit 300 views
314 views, so 2/3 views a day over the past week
So, at 348 views, and each are appreciated
Now at 373 views.
Uli, did all these viewers watch the film until the end? That would seem to be more of an indicator of success than just people who may have clicked on the link and watched the first ten seconds or so and then clicked it off. I have no idea if Youtube can measure that though. Just curious.
I’m not sure, YouTube doesn’t offer that.
But thanks for the negative view of it Ari ;p
Sorry, I honestly wasn’t implying anything! I was just curious if you could find that out with videos posted online.
i knew you weren’t, i was messing with you
I enjoyed it, very tight and the cinematography was great. Probably one of the best films I’ve seen posted here. I liked how the spinning kind of synchronised with both the story unravelling and her mental state.
The only thing I didn’t like that much was the voice acting/sound. For me the vocal sound was too polished and the acting a little amateurish, but that’s kind of expected with low budget shorts. I just felt it could have sounded more natural.
On a side note, I think your attitude in this thread is pretty obnoxious, people have been fairly tactful whereas you haven’t. You’re the one asking people to watch the film.
it’s a squeaky wheel thing, Robaldo, check all the short films in the Garage and see how many views they have received, ya gotta make some noise to get the looks
and have picked up 14 views over the past day
woohoo, passed 400 views
things have slowed down, now at 426
well, submitted it to fest in Ventura, I’ll see what they think of it someday
at 448
466
At 482, give it a watch and tell me what you think.
and it’s up on IMDb.com, (here) so you can go and hate it… I mean rate it
at 512 and waiting on word from two festivals I submitted it to, may submit to another this week.
