Should be this film free avalable in the Internet?

If the main goal of Ms. Armstrong is to spread the world with a message, why not? But in the other hands… more than 200 financers… may be… they are waiting for some incomes after all… that’s right, but… how many income is “enought”?
I know to produce a film is very very hard, and with films like that I always wonder the same: free to download or just to see in theaters and buying the DVD ?
Perhaps Mr.Gore has something to say here….

Yes, I am 100% agree with OLI P.
I already watched this film today here, in Germany (direct, via satelite) with the whole things before and after the premiere (was great) and I payd 8 euro for a ticket, but I think that the cover lumb-sum for a movie-project like this should be coming from diferent “green” NGO’s and other people, wich have the possibility to support such a wanderful cause!?!

This was a great film, I saw it in theaters here (Hong Kong, though I am American) last night and though it was a wonderful film it was one night only and Hong Kong is all work work work and nothing else so many of my colleagues, friends and associates who wanted to see the film just couldn’t find the time at 9:30pm on a tuesday evening, what with work in the morning and all.
I am quite displeased to learn that, for whatever reason, something as trivial as international licensing rights are getting in the way of showing something of such importance to the masses. Obviously I have another option in just pre-ordering the DVD and waiting for it to be released but is that really what should need to be done? I am lucky enough to have the resources to be able to afford such nonsense expenditures such as DVDs and movie tickets, others do not.
Get your shit together and get the licensing rights to this film squared off please.

Also, let me clarify I know this isn’t Franny’s fault, we were treated with a special guest speaker here in our theater like most other countries, and though we didn’t get someone like Kofi Anon, we got Franny’s uncle hahahaha. He told us a story of how she wanted to make films but hated business and made it happen by breaking the rules bla bla.

So, with that said, if you have the internet, and would lilke this film and know anything of the technology of the past few years for obtaining films and stuff on the net, run a quick search, this movie is available. stnerrot spelled backwards are a wonderful thing.

And if anyone has a problem with me advocating and perhaps even obtaining this film in the aforementioned manner…. sue me, Hong Kong has NO intellectual property laws and I would never intend to profit, so….
i win?

And to clarify once more, regardless of what I said in my last post or 2 I still preordered the DVD. If only for the stickers, I wanna slap them up around the Dog Park in Wan Chai, which is about the only green-ish spot of land in that district, slated for demolition to “reclaim” some more of the harbor and build a new sky scraper.

I still never understood how one could call taking part of the sea which was never yours and never land “reclamation”, as if you at one point owned that bit of water.

I just downloaded this illegally, via torrents, and watched it (and I suggest that others do the same, for this movie and any others they may want to see).

I thought it was mildly interesting, but at the same time, I’m getting a bit bored of the eschatology shtick in various forms of environmental dialogue. I think it’s pretty clear that the world will not be basically over for humanity by 2065 (or whatever the film supposes). There’s this underlying Judeo-Christian value system to the argument that rubs me the wrong way, as if it’s any particular worry “what our grandchildren will think of us,” or blah blah blah. I think much of the environmentalist side of the debate is tied up in this higher morality, when really what they need to be doing is describing what this means (in non-eschatalogical terms) in a practical sense for individuals. The movie glossed over all the interesting predictions about the future (by splicing tiny blurbs over a montage showing the passage of years), opting instead for a handwringing, “future people, perhaps even aliens from outer space, will think we’re stupid idiots when they hear about how stupid and dumb we were” pose.

It’s just sad when you see an argument that’s right, right, right, but the appeal is all wrong.

There was a recent premier of the film New York City. It was sponsored by Greenpeace and MoveOn.org. That is coincidental since I am currently working on a documentary film. You will not believe the dirt I dug up on those two organizations. It is enough to make you loose your trust in both non-governmental organizations, and will show that the “Age of Stupid” was really the hippie generation.

absolutely yes. i’m going to get the dvd as well, and i’m going to support the initiative giving an offer and buying stuff from their store. besides, i’ve already tried to spread the word about this movie and it’s been years that i’ve been active in supporting sustainable policies… i really believe that if we’re not even willing to support all these activities (even financially, giving a few euros/dollars/whatever from our pockets) AFTER seeing this and hopefully a lot of other future movies/documentaries, we deserve to finish our journey in the universe…

Those who think everything should be free are more likely to die from choking on their food than global warming. It will be free soon enough. Even rich people can’t escape GW. The $33 million film “Home” by Yaan Arthus-Bertrand is “rights-free” only thanks to a billionaire in the French fashion industry. Franny to me is like a Rachel Corrie-with-freckles standing up to the Hollywood bulldozer that threatens to flatten all life. Don’t begrudge her for borrowing less than a million dollars from ordinary people of conscience.

Making it free will appeal to all the ignorant or apathetic people on Earth who this film is hoping to drop a hint of realization and reality on. Those of us who care about the situation will find our ways to see it even if it is waiting patiently for the DVD, but if the sense of urgency portrayed in this movie is supported by all the sponsors of the movie, this would be available to all and made viral through online campaigning. 2 months left until Copenhagen, and if you read the paper this morning regarding the climate summit yesterday in New York, there has been no progress. Lets establish a free viewing link and spread the word to everyone we can.

On another note, kudos to all involved in creating the film and organizing the premieres. It was a pleasure to watch, and another reminder to stay focused on my personal emissions and watchful of my governind bodies’ policies.

Absolutely. The doc is going to get out there anyway, and it’s imperative that anyone and everyone see it. An awful lot of people don’t want to believe things are changing, or if they are changing, there’s anything mankind did to cause it, or can do to stop it. A man I work with believes in his whole heart and mind that this is a leftist-liberal government conspiracy to place more and more restrictions on his personal liberties. And he won’t have anything do do with it. (Wind turbines in my back yard? I don’t think so.) Even with all the Loraxes out there yelling, “Save the planet!” it’s going to take a massive movement of committed individuals to join forces and convince the status quo, like the women of Liberia documented in the film “Pray the devil Back to Hell.” Arm in arm, with a simple message: We will all be dead if we don’t make changes. So let’s do it! I’ll mobilize the whole, damn, red state of Kentucky if I have to do it single-handedly.

Anne: But we’re not going to “all be dead” if we don’t make changes. I’m of one mind with the idea that we need to change how we live, but the arguments we make should be far more practical, and not rely so much on this myth that everybody is going to perish by 2065. I wish environmentalism could move past this “fire and brimstone” phase of its development, because the compelling arguments for change are right there underneath that.

About think being free? why not if it is for a caue. I mean we are all asked one day or another to volunteer for some causes and we are not paid for that, and we do it just for the result it will bring and being art of it. Another reason is that, here are so many other films directors who do not care to copy others that I wonder why some films need to be paid anyway.
But this one in particular is not shown everywhere I guess. So, since TV is quite free and you can watch on tv, why can’t I watch it for free on the net if I can’t see it on tv and you can?

It’s available on the (e or a)Mule so that anyone who wants can download it for free in any country with internet connexion. This will improve the sales – if available – as more and more people talk about it. All the major Climate Change works are available in this fashion. When I pass it on I will add a comment telling people how to contribute as I have done.
