False irony.
I have a list of films I should see but haven’t got around to. Finally checked off Red River yesterday :-) I keep putting off watching some movies because they are either really long or are in genres that don’t interest me much, but I’ll watch them someday. Among them: Singin’ in the Rain, Gone With the Wind, and The Sound of Music.
The films I would not want to admit having missed for fear that my Mubi membership might be revoked include Celine and Julie Go Boating, The White Ribbon, Uncle Boonmee, and Spring in a Small Town.
Singin’ in the Rain, Gone With the Wind, and The Sound of Music.
Just saw these in the last three years myself, waiting for them to come up on the big screen at the right moment was my reason. I stll haven’t seen Psycho. Same thing, waiting for it to turn up at the cinema again.
I’m sure glad that I saw Cabaret the last time it was at the Astor because they haven’t played that in over three years now.

Shush. Don’t tell anyone I’ve never seen…
…those other two threads on the same topic.

There, I’ve said it, okay! I know. I feel dirty even getting involved in discussion on here. I’ve seen a few Ozu, but never that. To be honest, when it was being screened at Uni, I had a screaming hangover and I never got around to seeing it again. My friends don’t like those sort of films, either. Last week I watch Blitz with Jason Statham and the whole time I was thinking, “I could be watching something decent”, and I still sat through it. I didn’t even enjoy it. I hated it! And that happens all the time. There’s lots I haven’t seen. I know, I’m sorry Mubi community, I’m a charlatan who says they like films but hasn’t the base knowledge to offer an informed opinion, really. I understand if you use this information against me. I deserve it.
So, confession time. What film makes people go quiet when it’s brought up in conversation?
