When I fist saw the trailer I thought it looked like Independence Day but good. I really hope it’ll be decent at least. There really hasn’t been any good sic-fi films lately.

Independence day failed by hiring Fresh prince and also having the most stupid ending with the virus and flying into the center with a jet like that would be more effective than shooting it with a missile rofl
and cloverfield was a shaky mess with not enough monstertime but I gotto say its an excellent movie on fastforward or if you clip the movie down to 10 minutes.

i saw that official trailer #2 in the cinema the other day and it really looked and sounded like a film 2 be seen there
it is funny every now and then one of these spectacular looking films (like district 9) appear without months of hype or publicity and i wonder if it is just lacking originality?
i do like the concept of not looking toward the aliens a bit like medusa or dracula’s hypnotic gaze or the spirits in raiders of the lost ark
sorry looks cheap and lame to me.

it is funny i completely forgot about tron until i just searched 4 similar special effects films released soon, and the tron trailer followed the skyline trailer the other day at the cinema… that is how impressed i was from the skyline trailer!

saw the trailer for Priest the other day in 3D and tho I do not want to see it I got to say the 3D in the trailer was excellent
i don’t believe skyline is a 3d film which is also unusual

This film looks really terrible. I’m a huge fan of the alien attack genre, I manage to enjoy mediocre-to-bad films like Independence Day and its ilk simply because the genre attracts me so much, but this trailer just looks bad bad bad. Skyline is directed by the Brothers Strause, who have the dubious honor of directing the worse of the two Alien vs. Predator films, and I have some serious doubts as to them suddenly gaining the ability to direct a film competently between the productions of two B movies. As a fan of the genre I might give it a watch (read as: if I can find a way to watch it without any money or effort, I’ll consider it a possibility), but my expectations are about as low as they could possibly be.
I would bet large quantities of money that the film will be terrible, and will underperform both critically and financially.
Doesn’t really appeal to me I guess. It just looks like another alien invasion picture to me with a lot of stuff that doesn’t make sense (like how the aliens are able to lift human bodies into the air and up into their spaceship without sucking up any of the debris, newspaper, dogs, etc.). The special effects look cool I suppose but the story seems way too basic for me; it doesn’t look like they’re doing anything new with it.
i have now watched skyline and thought the special effects were top notch and apparently the film cost $10 million which sounds like an achievement considering a film like transformers 2 cost $200 million
the story was very basic and it had a b movie feel in terms of the characters being less important than the concept
skyline is good fun overall and remember DO NOT LOOK AT THE LIGHT
The few people I have talked to said the effects would have looked cheap even on the sci fi channel.
Here’s when I knew it would be terrible.
It was one day before the release and there were no critic reviews.
Not that a film needs good critic reviews to be a good film. But, if the producers don’t even send promos out to critics before the film is released, it means they know something we don’t. If there are no reviews at all before the film comes out, it means the producers don’t want people to see reviews before they decide to see it. Which means even the film’s producers think it’s terrible.
Not my kind of sci-fi.
I’ll go see it if I get a chance. It reminded me of The War of the Worlds by Spielberg at first. Then the trailer gets indpendenceday and thats when I don’t like it but still looks good.
It sucked. Complete waste of time.
I thought you were talking about the comedy from Spain from the 80’s. I was gonna say I really liked it.

SO SHIT IT MAKES ME ANGRY , it is marketed as a big budget sci-fi on par with independence day or district 9 but is basically a low budget film with a load of second rate cgi added on top , the script is really clumsy, the characters are stereotyped and dull ,the directions second rate and the continuity of the editing at some points is unforgivable.
Dumbest movie ever made.
After seeing the trailer I must confess that “Battle: Los Angeles” looks to be far more interesting than “Skyline”. What’s with all these alien invasion films, both low and high budget, that are coming to theaters? It seems to me that such theme is dry ground for new ideas. Sure it’s an interesting idea, but I’d like to see a fresh take instead of these endless streams of inconsequential “War of the worlds” rehashes.
Really bad… everything… save for the pretty leading actress… 1/5
