Well, his last video project was made four years ago, and maybe he won’t shoot any more films, but I could imagine that he might work on another compilation of previously shot material like “As I Was Moving Ahead Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty”. For those who haven’t had the chance to watch the 4-hours film at the cinemateque, there are certain ways to obtain a downloadable version of that film on the internet, but unfortunately it means to become a pirate.

As I suspected!
Lithuania and the Collapse of the USSR was completed in 2008 and shown in 2009 in NY (possibly elsewhere as well), so, no, he’s not retired.
according to this video, no
I believe he is currently working on 1001 Nights…
This is all great news!!!
Jonas Mekas new website jonasmekasfilms.com with all free content is coming up on march 1st 2010!
It will all be there
Excellent news. Thanks, Jonas.
I hope he makes his films available on DVD for purchase too. I’d gladly give my money to Mr.Mekas.
Jonas’ OFFICIAL website is launched!
great!
woohoo!
(enthusiasm)
YES!
Great news about the DVD, for those of us not torrent-savvy enough. :)
Does anyone know the exact release date to “As I was Moving Ahead…”? because it has been on the coming soon to dvd section of Mekas’ website for some time now.
Isn’t he one of the contributors to the Exquisite Corpse film many of us are eagerly anticipating?
Yes, they have enough money to begin filming , i believe, and I suppose have started work on the project.

I love how with Vimeo, digital video, and other advances in technology, Jonas can make a new film every week if he wants to. I’m currently downloading As I Was Moving Ahead… off Demonoid and want to send him an email asking if I can give him a cash donation to support his work/pay him for the film.

I haven’t seen any listings of films he’s made lately….
Also, how the heck are you guys seeing “As I Was Moving Ahead Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty”?
He doesn’t have it for sale on his site, and only two minutes are on YouTube, I don’t see a DVD available…. explain yourselves!
