Sometimes Oscar Gets it Exactly Right.

This Argentinian film was just previewed in my city, and the topic of this thread was a newspaper reviewer’s opening comment. He goes on to say ‘The Secret in their Eyes’ is the best movie (he’s) seen this year.

There was lots of hype about ‘A Prophet’ and ‘The White Ribbon’ on this website prior to the Oscar presentations. The Argentinian film was essentially ignored, probably because it hadn’t been available for viewing.

I wonder if you will agree with his comments after seeing the movie, and also if a professional opinion such as the above will cause some to modify a negative opinion about the Oscars?

yeh ,i agree with u 100%,just saw 3 films back to back ,though i liked all of them but there was something in this movie esp the ’represssed love story" between two leads which was simply amazing ,it could have been a simple genre film but it became much more than that

No this film is not good. The film was not worthy of it. And the oscars seems more embarrasing than ever before.

The Secret In Their Eyes is a phenomenal film. The White Ribbon is a much better one. I definitely think it deserved the Oscar but I won’t complain because The Secret in Their Eyes is also deserving. A Prophet is great too but I prefer the other two
