Words: Sophia Disgrace
“The first official day of filming, horror musical ‘Spidarlings’, saw me acting alongside the drag artiste Tiffany Wells. Tiffany was undertaking the role of Gena,a friend of my character Eden and her lesbian lover Matilda.Complete with a pug dog, Cookie,(also in suitably colourful attire!)Tiffany put us girls to shame-her curves poured into a luxurious evening dress and frilled coat, topped off with a bouffant wig-she was truly a vision to behold!
Director Salem Kapaski has transformed his own home into the set for the film, and for today’s shoot we found ourselves in the Kapaski family living room-now transformed into a kitsch boudoir esque abode for Gena!
Lines memorised and ‘action!’ uttered we raced through the scenes required and then did abit of behind the scenes filming stuff! We were also randomly joined by two Latvian guys, keen to help out on set, they got everyone to sign a piece of crockery before filming, which we then smashed, and each kept abit for good luck-random but hey ho!”

Had a fun and creative day of shooting today at the beautiful Phoenix Artist Club.
Things started off a bit hectic (mainly me panicking that we won’t be able to shoot all the scenes we needed in time especially with the tubes driving past us every ten minutes and construction work being done above us) but things soon turned around as we transformed Sophia into a drag king for the day.
Our fake moustache went missing so a new one had to be created on the spot (using mostly hair obtained from the head of our D.o.p. Danesh and some other dubious looking hair our production manager Giselle found… I didn’t ask where it came from).
Today we also shot our first scenes with Victor Sobchak who plays the role of The Bear, a sleazy night bar owner. Victor once gave me my first theatre job as a stage manager when I was still in my teens, and for two years I did the light design for several plays produced by his company. It was a great experience working with Viktor again.
George Xander as The Greek
With Rusty Goffe (who will play the role of the villainous Alfred)
Go Salem & Team! :D
Cheers :D
I’m creaming over this. Immensely.
God, Doug, do you have to use that expression and make me recall that video of the Kony filmmaker from the other day (albeit more on hearsay because the video doesn’t show that particular action that people saw him treating himself to in public)?… If I could make an emoticon with a disgusted face, it’d go right here.
I haven’t even been paying attention to anything regarding Russell, so.. I have no idea what you talking about… >.<

Hehe. Thanks Douglas. I’m glad to hear that -
Another picture from yesterday’s shoot (to keep the juices flowing)
Wonderful work. I love the color balance and the light in that last shot; I hope that’s how it will appear.

Well, if you haven’t heard, you will… and that’s all I’ll say…
Luckily this has nothing to do with that! :D
Thank you Claus. :)
Most of the pictures I send are stills ripped from raw footage. There will be minor changes done in post but more or less the final look should be close to the pics.
We are giving a lot of attention to lighting and our colour schemes so I really appreciate your comment :)
For the above scene we only lit the background and used one redhead with a reflector to light up the faces.
Lighting has become one of my favourite aspects and I am working with two cinematographers, which always gives us more options and interesting suggestions to experiment with.

What a marvellous review! Love it! :)
listing questionable reviews is great, worked for lost highway
bump for the beauty of the photography alone
Seriously can’t wait for this!!!
