Which film community/criticism website do you prefer?

spout.com or theauteurs.com

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????
Not only The Auteurs is the best community/criticism website, it’s also the best site on the web.

One time, when I was low on self-esteem, it took me out for drinks and I ended up hooking with two hot blonds.
True Story.

as if there could be any real competition. Spout is just a really ugly morass of commercial news and (yawn) fairly predictable opinion. TA, that’s a whole laboratory, right the way down to a film school. Things explode here: you put two ideas together, and you can be fairly sure of an art-brain chemical chain reaction. And the really great thing about this site? Threads never die, they just lie dormant until fresh blood comes into the mix. TA is the kind of site that has the capacity to change an opinion, to awaken a new perspective.
You don’t get that down the Spout.

When my cat was in dire need of an operation Efe himself flew out to my village and personally performed a risky procedure with his bare hands and a pair of craft scissors.

The cat died but let’s see the head of Spout.com do something like that.

Besides, this site has it hooked up with Criterion and Janus and with Garage. It’s hosting the new wave in it’s digital pages. It’s the cinematheque français. We are the proteges.

Ok, so there’s no comparison.

After reading those quotes, I can only deduce the theauteurs.com is either a religious experience, or it pays your rent. I’m leaning toward the latter.

Paul, man do I wish the latter was true.

Does anyone actually know what happened to spout? The “community” never really clicked, but some of the content was ok, until they abruptly left the content business. Did anyone but Karina Longworth turn up anywhere else?

The Spout team decided to start something new in their community that has become one of the biggest art exhibitions in the country. It’s pretty freakin’ awesome… It is great to see Katrina at the LA Times and every so often a guest critic on Current’s “The Rotten Tomatoes Show”
Mubi (what happened to Auteurs btw?!?!) collaboration with Criterion and easy navigation has to make it the better website… Sorry Spout, I’ll always love you.

The Auteurs is the best forum and the only forum I check on a daily basis. It’s like crack.

It’s now my homepage.

(PS, it’d be really great if it would pay my rent too)
