this discussion/argument is pointless. there are many threads of homosexual/homosocial relationships/over/undertones in most of Kubrick’s films. Barry Lyndon, Eyes Wide Shut, A Clockwork Orange, Spartacus… whether Kubrick was “gay” or not, who cares! Obviously he was gay enough to explore that side of the male psyche with enough subtlety… whether or not he had gay lovers or something… I have no idea. He probably kept that secret. All I know is he had a wife— a woman he met in 1956. They may have had some kind of weird open-minded relationship where she knew he was gay, but I kinda doubt it. Other great directors- Fincher, Cronenberg, etc. Are straight men who are, for argument’s sake.. a little gay. But to just sit around talking about whether Kubrick was “gay” or not is a little disrespectful. The guy died with a lot of great films under his belt and this is what we’re reducing him to?
