It’s about time we had a thread where people could stop judging others by calling everybody who likes obscure films snobby and pretentious.
But yeah, Tarantino is awesome.
Good luck with your play, Drew.
Gluhgk.
Is it okay to admit you don’t like things
or does that reek of snobbery
I guess the face palm is probably a no-no then, too?
This is a discussion forum. It’s OK to express whatever opinions you may have AND it’s OK for people to disagree with your opinions.
Is it okay to like snobby obscure pretentious stuff?
Are crypto-fascist utopias okay?
Is okay to say that all cinema should be free and equal BUT that some cinema should be MORE free and equal
than others?
I’m confused – is that okay too?
I forgot to say:
I LoVe FigHt CluB
Actually, I really do love Fight Club, and I don’t need anyone to tell me it’s OK because I’m good enough. I’m smart enough. And doggone it, people like me.
(and was that snob-baiting misspelling Tarantino’s name, Chip?)
I really enjoyed Fight Club. but I hate Tarantino, and it’s not snobbery, it’s just good taste.

If you go back to page 1 you will see for yourself that Christopher’s banana is still very excited.
The lists are the best part of Mubi.
Hahahaha! Good title!
Boring concept though. Something like how The World Sinks except for Japan doesn’t turn out to be quite as epic as you’d hope.

Hello, My Name Is Warren and I’m a Hawk the Slayer addict
So is this a place where everything we say will be kept confidential? I’m not sure I want it widely known that I like The Ringer.

" it’s not snobbery, it’s just good taste."
^Ulitism.
I one time preferred a dreamworks film to a pixar film…

It’s ok to admit you like Tarrantino, movie lists, and Fight Club. It’s ok to acknowledge that you haven’t seen any Tarkovski, but you were first in line for Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol!!! Here we don’t post links to similar threads that have already been started. No one should suffer because their tastes in movies aren’t obscure or pretentious enough.
Who the fuck actually does this? I’ve been on this forum since early 09 and I haven’t seen anyone put someone down because they like Tarantino films or Fight Club or even shame anybody for not seeing an Andrei Tarkovsky film or being first in line for Mission Impossible.
Obvious troll is obvious.
“I haven’t seen anyone put someone down because they like Tarantino…”
Really?
For the record, I really like this:
I don’t like Tarantino’s films.

Sorry, no room here for that driver dude from Drive…
Ryan Gosling just LOOKS funny. And I mean funny as in “funny weird”, not “funny ha-ha”.
Matt, did you ever see the Stuart Smalley film? Laura San Giacomo’s rack deserved a pair of Oscars.

Breast reductions are evil

Yeah, there are more accusations of film snobbery on this site than actual film snobbery.
The conversation slants toward the obscure because it’s the only forum where you can talk about the obscure and have other people know what you’re talking about.
If it’s devoid of film snobbery, can we replace it with other kinds? In which case . . .
. . . . I declare this a Pepsi-free zone.

Hey man my father works for Pepsi. You snob.
(he doesn’t)
Tarkovski and Tarrantino spelled wrong!
ahem how snobbery of me!
Chip
