Not yet. I’m trying to find enough funding so I can divorce the corporate life and really pay my crew what I want to. I don’t think kickstarter can do that for me, but luckily there are plenty of avenues in Dallas (and elsewhere—thanks to everyone helping out right now) so I’m still optimistic. I believe in my film and the concept seems to resonate, so we’ll see.
Well, that’s really cool, either way. :) I hope you’re able to find funding – I know you’ve been working on this for quite a while. Did you finish your script?

The script is locked, though I’m experimenting with a more impressionistic style that would render the script more of a guide than a bible. It’s there to give the actors everything they need, and my job becomes shooting it in a style that best fits my purpose. Loving the experimental part of this process so far.
That sounds cool. Yeah, finding the right form can be really hard; if there’s no reason to go too crazy, then don’t do it. If it, though, serves a higher purpose – the form pushing a certain ideal through aesthetics – then it’s definitely the best route you can take. I guess your script will be more like a Malick script. :)

Funny you should say that.
It was something I had considered early on—to go impressionistic—then there was an off-hand suggestion by a trusted confidant (a CineFoundationInternational friend) and then seeing Tree of Life that brought it back into consideration.
Haha. Great. Yeah, Tree of Life would do that. :P To be honest, I’m kind of surprised by the method you’re choosing, since I think you said the story was an actual event. That sounds very intriguing. I’ve got to be heading to bed, but keep me posted on that!

There are definitely elements of the film that absolutely have to be shot in a more realist manner. The impressionistic pieces I’m considering are in the run-up to the climax (the climax being a real-time 30-minute scene that, to my mind, there is only one way to shoot, that being realist).
There will be elements of realism and minimalism regardless of whether I choose to go impressionistic with some of the dialog scenes.
Zach — YOU MUST POST A CLIP NOW. :)
Soon, Odi…soon. :P

Thanks for contributing, Doug — I can’t wait to see these later (can’t view them from where I am right now). YAY! So glad people are interested in playing around on this thread. I’m having a ball with this! :)
My next one is more personal, and will be uploaded on Vimeo instead. ;)
Cool — don’t forget to join our group there!
I requested to join!
Going to take care of that NOW! :D
Wait, I haven’t seen the request yet, but I’ll keep looking for it.
Vimeo never works out for me, haha. Anyway – its on Youtube, and its over 60 seconds. But shit. I have to share. Haha.
That’s ok, looking forward to seeing it!
Uuuu, I’m going to play here soon enough!
Yay! More more! :D
Yay! Welcome!
Oh my, lol — Doug I hope no one got hurt in that first one! :)
I’ll get crackin’ on some replies tomorrow, I’m recovering from a cold… (would make an emoticon with a buck-toothed smile but I don’t know how to do that).

Have you tried looking into Kickstarter? That might be a good thing to check out. My brother is doing one right now.
