Damn. Okay guys, I break my vow of textual silence oh-so-quickly, but will probably keep it hereafter. You guys are giving me GREAT things to work with, but a lot of the ideas I have will not only take a while to pull off, I sort of specifically want to try them out to really push myself. So my one-a-day activity will be dead now, expect something more like once a week if I’m really able to crank this stuff out. Anyway, I have a response to both Odi’s driving montage and Douglas’ window scene, I think I’ll get crackin’ at them in that order.

That’s ok, DiB, I think I make vows just so I can break them, with impunity. :o This has been abundantly evident in my declarations, for example, to stay away from the forums. I rebel against myself. Ridiculous.

I’m really loving the one a day or every few days format, but it’s totally cool to do once a week, or whenever you want to — this is a no pressure thread, and all about having fun. And being inspired. Whether that leads you to more shorts or other, “heavier” stuff. We find our community of creative buddies right here in cyberspace! YAY! (we need to get a virtual pool table next)…

Doing short format and a lot of them is right down my alley, I like to keep myself continuously busy creative-wise or I get really crabby (crabbier than usual, at any rate). In addition to filmmaking I’m busy knitting several things, working on slightly longer film projects (nothing as long as Letters though, which to me was LONG), and plan to start painting again very soon. Hmm and blogging on my website, taking photos… Oh and then there’s helping produce, etc. the Ergodic project, which I need to get back to now that I’ve had an unplanned rest from it…

Where do I find the time with a full-time job, two young kids and health issues, friends, family, chores, etc. etc.? I have no idea but if I don’t create ALL the time, it’s “coitons” (curtains in Brooklyn-ese) for me!

And now to tend to this stubborn cold, courtesy of the beginning of my kids’ school year…. AAAH-CHOOO!

My answer to Doug’s rain video:

Is it a safe time now to point out that I don’t think I’m getting the entire gist of what this thread is doing? hides behind a chair

odilonvert

Ha ha ha! It’s whatever’s on your mind. Or you can do a video response to another person’s video.

Very free-form.

DOUGLAS REESE

Haha! I assumed it was free-form, but when there were some responses, that was when I was a bit scared that I was getting into some game I wasn’t aware of how to play. LOL.

odilonvert

Don’t worry — there’s no wrong way to play! The point is just to — PLAY. :D

I think I’m going to have to start moving away from iMovie now and play with FCExpress and Studio Artist much more, to see what else I can do there. I’ve pretty much reached the visual limits (that I’m interested in, at any rate) with iMovie. This thread is a good excuse to do that, yay! :)

Yeah I’m glad to contribute since I figured out how to download from my phone. I’m excited and can’t wait to get more in.

Awesome — please do contribute as often as possible!

I have one coming up, but I’ve had to clear a ton of stuff out before I could make it. In the next day or so though, I’ll be back

The film is Edgar Reitz’s 25 hour Heimat 2. That’s the end of episode 2. I’ve been trying to catch up on it most of today, but got distracted by the new Errol Morris in theatre today.

I tried to drop the file into iMovie to try and fool around with it but I couldn’t figure it out. I like it a lot so I’ll be posting whenever I can.

iMovie’s very intuitive and easy, you’ll get the hang of it fast.

Obviously I love traveling, even if it’s a short distance. Here’s a fragment:

^ Hey, is that a blank screen? :)

Edit — never mind, it loaded, loved it! :D

I thought it wasn’t there either. thanks, I really liked you last one too. I’m working on some other ones too.

odilonvert

Yay! I gotta get back to that. I’m just in a “super tired I need a lot of sleep but I can’t move to the bed” phase… really bad.

I’ve been the same way really. Work is starting to slow down a bit and I’ll have plenty of time to do things I’ve been wanting to do.

odilonvert

Time to add another one. I’m really obsessed with this very short format now.

Wondering about making a little story with little pieces, just like the ones posted here… hmmmm….. a little editing job, might be fun.
