Can someone tell me why I always like girls who I help with emotional problems?

I think I need to analyze myself. This can’t be coincidence… is this manipulative of me? Its not like I help them for hook ups, I help them because I enjoy helping them (and its not like I have even hooked up with any of them). Is it bad to enjoy helping someone with their problems? When someone opens up like that is it bad to then become attracted to them? Is my attraction directly related to them opening up to me? Is this because I feel close to them or because I get off on it?

Someone wise help me please. :)

Someday I’ll meet a drug addict who falls in love with me, and after I’m done helping her, we’ll drift apart, and get divorced.

I’m actually 98% sure that I’ll never get divorced. However marriage isn’t looking likely either, considering I won’t get married till I’m 100% sure she is the one… is that possible?

There was a really good quote from a book I recently read (Gilead by Marilynne Robinson; excellent, btw) about what you guys are talking about. It was something about the way women are attracted to people they can help. I think this applies to guys, too, though. Dang, I’m sorry I can’t quote it exactly, and I no longer have the book.
