I really tried to love 2001, but to be honest, I’d rather watch Fahrenheit 451 than 2001.
Talking of films from the 60s, it’s impossible to pick ‘the best’, but Le Samourai, Le Mepris, and Belle de Jour must take the cake.
Solaris is a better film. I have a friend who just watched Solaris, then watched it on commentary, then watched it over again all in one night, and now he won’t stop texting me about Solaris.
Three Colors is an amazing trilogy.
nah,both are equal but Solaris is better in numbers because it only has one actual scientist :P

Three Colors is pretty good, except for White. White can lick my taint. And omg, the theatrical trailer for White is laughable. They made a so-so film even look worse.

A panda walks into a bar and orders a beer and a hamburger. After he eats he stands up stretches and pulls out a gun shooting everyone in the room but the bartender. The panda puts $20 on the bar and turns to leave. As he walks out the door the bartender asks why the panda shot everyone. The panda tells him to look in the encyclopedia. The bartender looks up panda and he reads “Panda: Large black and white mammal native to China. Eats shoots and leaves.”

By the way, this is for fans of The Stranger… I got a copy of Visconti’s screen adaptation and will be uploading it on one of my YT channels. It stars Marcello Mastroianni and Anna Karina, and if my memory serves me correctly, you get to see a little nudity involving Ms. Karina.

I cannot wait to finish reading The Stranger. I look forward to it the way I used to look forward to finales of TV shows.

500 Days of Summer was really good. Christine raised me expectations but still I was worried it would be too “indie” but it really wasn’t. I highly recommend it. Third best movie I have seen all year.
What’s the second? (Drew and I both agree that Tetro is number one.)

Dang it Drew is not here… I was really wating for his response. But I see why people would think 2001 is a reeeeeelllyyyyy good film. But I find it very masturbatory. I like the last sequence when that dude’s perception of time collapses. But the Windows media player sequence doesn’t really impress me now. Maybe If I had seen it when it first came out it would, but now… nah. I like my Solaris lava lamp way better.
