Glad about it. No doubt about it.
I wish you wouldn’t say that.
Did you guys know that there is water at the bottom of the ocean?
David Byrne taught me that.

Popsicle of love!
Breaking my “no buying DVDs streak”, I caved and purchased the Joe Swanberg 2011 collection. I think he made like 5 films last year, but the set comes with 4 of, supposedly, his most personal films. I think in these cases where you have an independent filmmaker who is committed to a self distribution model, it’s cool to support that. They come in nice packaging and come with a bunch of extra stuff and personalized thank yous.
There, so I interupt your awkward penis comments with awkward sex films.
[Implodes in jealousy.]
You’ve watched several of his films lately, haven’t you?
I haven’t seen these in the set. Silver Bullets is one I’ve been wanting to see, along with Autoerotic.
Not lately so much as roughly over the last year [since Uncle Kent was made available On Demand] and his work has really grown on me. The ones I’ve left to see are everything from Alexander the Last onward, minus UK of course.
Of the recent films, Silver Bullets is the one I look forward to the most, followed closely by The Zone and Caitlin Plays Herself.
The set includes Pivacy Setting, Art History, The Zone, Silver Bullets. Caitlin Plays Herself is an extra in there somewhere. Uncle Kent was the last one I saw I believe. I didn’t care too much for it upon first viewing, but I’ve come to appreciate it since.
Yes, I’d read on the page for Caitlin that it was available, surprised it wasn’t mentioned in the trailer for the release. Would love to get the collection had I the money, can only hope the films will be made available for general release in the near future.
Thought UK was very good when I saw it, though probably time to revisit it now that I’ve caught up on almost all the previous films. Have you seen anything else from him?
I’ve only seen a few. Alexander, Nights and Weekends and UK. Nights was the best for me so far. May watch Hannah Takes the Stairs when I get off work tonight. Have also seen Open Five directed by Kentucker Audley which Swanberg was the DP.
@ tommy,I seen Autoerotica on Sundance like 2weeks back.hurmorious 4 what it is but not something I would watch more then once, but still check it out,
While I think Nights is probably the better film, personally I enjoyed Hannah more, either it or Marriage Material [in which Audley actually co-stars] would be my favorite.
I’ve been interested in seeing Audley’s work, Holy Land looks particularly good.
Silver Bullets was pretty badass.
@Macho: damn, I wonder if they’ll be playing it again soon.
As much as I liked Audley’s Open Five, it felt a bit recserved. It’s as though he sometimes wanted to push to a more personal level, but when the opportunity would come, he’d pull away. There’s some pretty good performances in that one though.
I’ll have to keep an eye out for Open Five then, when it’s available to me. Unfortunately, the only film of his I have access to at the moment is Team Picture.
Just took a trip down the forums lane…realized that this was in vain.
Hey, that rhymed!
Yo if u can watch it on Sundance, the next showing is 5/3 @1:15 am for Autoerotic
Audley is selling Open Five through his website for $25. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and just watched it today. That was another case that I decided to help out a filmmaker because of self distribution.
Thanks Macho. Setting my already close to full dvr.
Damn I’m pissed,my dvr was full so it aint record The Mask of Dimitrios on Tcm,2nd time I missed it on there…….bs yo :’(
If I had the means, I’d still have to see OF before deciding on it. Am trying to avoid blind buys as much as possible, . . . . they were my undoing.
