anyone remember Biker Mice From Mars?

Aside: Just got back from the library. Had Outer Dark put on hold, hope it’ll arrive relatively soon. Rented A History of Violence and The Ghost Writer as well. Gonna try to watch one of those tonight.
I would have thought the overweightness of developed countries would be offset by the underweightness of third world countries.
18,000,000 * 2000 / 7,000,000,000 ~= 5.143 pounds overweight each.
That’s not so bad. As a whole, we’re lookin’ good.

I think my roommate is bulimic. He has the water running sometimes when he uses the restroom and coughs during those times.
That’s not good, Mary :(
Aside: Know that it had mixed responses, but thought that Ghost Writer was quite good. Appreciate that it avoids becoming too “political thriller”-y if you know what I mean. Must see more of Polanski’s work, ashamedly this is only the third one I’ve seen by him.
Haven’t seen that one yet, but I did watch this, all the time
Have vague memories of that show, don’t know if I really ever watched that many episodes. So much of my television childhood has slipped away . . . .
A male bulimic?… Odd…
Make sure your food isn’t missing, Mary…
Eating disorders do not discriminate according to sex.
@Mary – Your roommate isn’t bulimic. He’s creating a lot of noise to hide the fact that he’s taking a shit.
It’s a male trick. Consider yourself warned. :)
@A Smith
“Eating disorders do not discriminate according to sex.” – Very true.
@Odilonvert
He probably won’t take my food cause I eat health food and its in a small supply.
@Santino
lol. I was thinking that it could be that… but I kind of doubt it considering how he acts around food, and that he makes light about having a drinking problem. Maybe I’m reading too much into it. Oh well. Not my problem.
Eating disorders are also statistically disproportionately weighed toward women — I’m talking about anorexia and bulimia. But maybe they haven’t interviewed enough men to buck the numbers and even it out among the sexes.
Bulimia is rampant among women, particularly young women. I went to a all female college. This was not an uncommon thing.
I wasn’t saying there are NO male bulimics.
Also, stealing food, no matter what it is, is a very common thing with bulimics. If he is in fact bulimic and he is hungry enough and will like your food, he will take it. To throw it up afterward.

Like or no?
@ Odilonvert- Yea. I know you were saying that male bulimics were ‘odd’ because it is rare or rarely covered in the media, and not because they don’t exist. I think its odd but not as uncommon as one might expect with younger guys, and might be more prevalent for gay guys (although I don’t have any resources to back this claim besides anecdotal).
As far as food supplies go… like I said I’m not worried about mine so much as my supply tends to be the healthiest in the house and therefore not as enticing as the junk food that a lot of my roommates eat. I doubt that people would binge on apples but who knows.
I think I’ll be a little more watchful and skeptical about whether my intuition is true or not, while not being too invested in the matter. The reason is that whatever intervention would probably not really impact his behavior and it could make it worse.

Yeah… ugh… difficult situation… :(
Dude — looks like a fashion shoot still…

If you view those two specific eating disorders then yes, they are much more prevalent in women because the specific contemporary standards of beauty women are flooded with revolve around being thin (although roughly 15% of bulimics and anorexics are male). Muscle dysmorphia, on the other hand, (bigorexia, adonis complex, I still feel like a skinny runt even if I have muscles coming out of my muscles so I work out for 3 hours every day while taking every legal and illegal supplement available to me to the point where it is ruining my life and destroying my health, etc) affects mostly men for the opposite reason.
Body dysmorphic disorders are pretty evenly spread out between men and women.
Odi – Just go ahead and admit you’re a sexist! :P
Mary – How does he act around food? And he has a drinking problem? And jokes about it? How serious is his drinking problem?
Anyway, he could just be smoking a bunch of weed in his bathroom. That’s what my roommate does. Although I’m not sure if that explains the water running… unless he’s just trying to cover up the sound of him smoking. But why would you need the water running to purge anyway?
Lastly, I used to be an R.A., so I think I’m clearly the most qualified person to handle this! :P
Muscle Dysmorphia:

Body dysmorphic disorders are pretty evenly spread out between men and women.
Yes. Agreed. Never disagreed.
Odi – Just go ahead and admit you’re a sexist! :P
Oh no, DFFOO, you’re not going to lead me down that road!
It’s okay for a woman to be a sexist. Just like it’s okay for minorities to be racist against white people.
My uncle has chronic back pain because he lifted too much weight for his frame to handle when he was younger.
Also, I think men are less likely to become unhealthily slim, but they can weight-cycle like crazy.
You’re 240 pounds, you start basically starving yourself.
You’re 140 pounds, you’re happy with your weight, you start eating whatever you want again.
You’re 240 pounds, you start basically starving yourself.
The only difference is that men stop the nosedive before they get to the mortal danger zone.
i think angelina is perfect for this role. also i want to see her turn into a dragon

also isn’t everyone sexist? isn’t everyone racist? it’s a matter of degree
We’re all on the conveyor belt of racism. That’s one of the lessons I remember from college.
What is the conveyor belt of racism?

Being here in the Philippines has perks in terms of movies. For example, I get to see The Amazing Spider-Man 4 days before anyone else in America. Ha-ha!
