don’t take that as encouragement LITD.
i propose we momentarily rename this thread Stop the Leaving in honour of the fallen.
how do people know if they’ve seen a film if they lose all their ratings? have i seen cruel story of youth or the sun’s burial? i’m not watching both again to find out.
Odi and Grey Daisies both gone? :/ I can understand Grey wanting to go – they seemed pretty disillusioned about mubi in general – but I’m kind of surprised at Odi leaving..
In an attempt to make this place happier:
Just speculation but I think it might have been like Bijoux said for Odi, she tried to cut back on time and resources spent on mubi quite a few times but she found it really hard to do that so might have decided deleting everything was the only way to get respite from the internet for a while. I’ve been down that path too, it’s also sometimes too hard to say goodbye! So Grey Daisies was the other one…hope Dimitris doesn’t follow suit and delete his account as am very fond of it. And magpies makes a good point. how do people know if they’ve seen a film if they lose all their ratings? have i seen cruel story of youth or the sun’s burial? i’m not watching both again to find out.:):) man on radio just said you guys have had the wettest June in over a hundred years, I read about your petticoats and hope your bonnets are all ok.
PS thanks Lily, feel so much better:)
i have odile’s email if anyone wants to keep in touch. she has given me permission to give it out so pm me if u want it. i told her it would be a shock to everyone and that we’d be happy to have her back anytime. sorry to hear grey is gone too :’(
i think we need early caturday
i’m okay meg, i live up a hill. though in a tragic twist one of the many businesses that got wiped out in the flood couple of weeks ago was the lone lingerie shop in my town. guess i won’t be getting any new petticoats or bonnets for a while! my only inconveniences so far were the waters rising above the cash machines so that they exploded and i had to go to another town to get money, and loads of trains being cancelled due to landslides. oh and there’s a dripping sound in the attic which i am ignoring.
has dim hinted that he might leave? does he want a load of spam on his wall demanding that he stay?
here’s my contribution to happy (screw cats)
I prefer the cat video.
djokovic is a djoke. thanks for that, i missed it. the one time i’d root for roger :p
are u people still wearing petticoats and bonnets? what century is it there?
I prefer the cat video.
haha! sorry gustavo.
century? i don’t know. right now it feels like the century of the pickled trout. as for bonnets, i’m beginning to think i might actually buy an umbrella one of these days. as for petticoats, lets not go there. you’ll make my longjohns blush.
i thought u folks had magical brollies and dancing chimney sweeps :)

and i thought you guys had anti-abortion laws and the death penalty…oh…wait…..
i’m off to bed now. sorry for derailing the cats!
haha no problemo, cats always land on their feet ;)
btw i loved the film! even if it was the most depressing thing ever!
hope the rain will stop before you’re flooded out of the island. then u might have to live in france :\
Weather Porn:

Odi’s gone.
haha love this

i think this is better than the film actually. btw i’ll be away for a few days but don’t panic, i’m not leaving :)
I just watched Flanders and while I had a few problems with it there was something I found very captivating about the style. I want to see more Bruno Dumont. What are all of your thoughts on him and which of his films are the best?
@drew: Very good director whose movies feel spiritual. Check out L’Humanite.
“Odi’s gone.”
She’s taking a break for a while.

L’Humanite and The Life of Jesus are my favorites from Dumont. I love his pacing. Twenty Nine Palms is particularly disturbing.
Damn. Are L’Humanite and The Life of Jesus unavailable?
Flanders and Walk Hard double feature. That’s a good time.
@Ruby
Re: algebra—please don’t sweat bringing it up. I’ve made a fervent pasttime of making jokes about it myself. I’m not an unconfident person, and I was pretty sure it was going to turn out as such. I was prepared(i.e. already had planned on retaking it in the fall). Like you, this is the only class I ever failed.
It’s a strange grim high that accompanies sitting in class the last week knowing you’ve already sealed your doom, because the work is still there but the stress is now entirely gone. It’s a light feeling, a muted, bittersweet sense of liberation. I felt like Cagney at the end of Angels With Dirty Faces just sans the dopey square mechanizations of Pat O’Brien.

sushi cats

mubi avatar cat!

Haha. I found a bunch of weird cat pictures. (Yeah I know, if cats can be any more weird) ill post some late when I get the chance.
i like this one. meta-cat! it’s a cat dressed up as a japanese cartoon cat.

Lights in the Dusk
Odi’s gone? Shit. The amount of times she convinced me not to delete my account and then she went and deleted hers. No word of warning or anything. Fo’ shame :(
She was the best filmmaker on MUBI too (sorry Scorsese)
