“‘female hysteria’ led to the invention of vibrators :)”

I knew that!

Good times, good times. I mean they were horrible and the motivations behind the vibrators was weird ass male shit, but good times.

I actually own the Criterion of Sid&Nancy and haven’t watched it. Maybe I will just to keep with the theme.

aww alex cox is cool. walker is on instant watch. maybe i’ll play along too

sadly he later had to sue gilliam for a writing credit on fear and loathing after he was fired from the project. has anyone seen searchers 2.0?

C’mon, like someone wouldn’t have thought of vibrators the moment women joined the work force.

It’s amazing a country that calls itself a democracy would imprison people for criticizing it’s leaders.

“‘female hysteria’ led to the invention of vibrators :)”

I dunno how much consolation that would be to a woman made hysterical by an unwanted hysterectomy

With all due apologies, I’m finding Pussy Riot kinda hot (and one of the husbands seems kinda sweet).
I’m glad to see that riot grrrls never left.

They’ve just decided to fuck with Russia.

Speaking of which, the president of Bialarus was denied entrance to England and the Olympics, using an EU human rights law and citing a bloody putdown of election protests. However, as he was traveling as a member of the Olympic committee, the law didn’t necessarily apply.

The Russian opposition blog gazeta.ru had this to say:

The decision to shame and rebuke Belarus anyway “is the first clear signal since the collapse of the Soviet Union that the West is no longer hoping for the democratization of Russia and the other Soviet republics.”
“Russian officials, if they continue to assault civil liberties within their borders, must also be prepared for higher sanctions against themselves in the West.”

Edit:
Ruby, http://gazeta.ru/ has a ton of stuff on Pussy Riot and the reaction protests since.
With piccies.

On a side note, did you guys really let me get away with quoting the Farengi rules of acquisition in a serious economics discussion?

finally getting around to buying Blu-Rays. spent $55 on Raging Bull, Mean Streets,Taxi Driver and Goodfellas. The only others I have are Kingdom of Heaven: Director’s Cut, Hanna and Another Earth.

Another Earth was pretty good, but Hanna made me want to punch myself in the crotch.

Hanna I liked a great deal, it was an amalgamation of styles and I felt it worked.

Well, it didn’t suspend my disbelief enough and I hated the score. Saorsie Ronan has such a mystifying presence though.

Yeah, the score, like Drive’s and Fight Club’s is little bit divisive

And give Neil Jordan’s Byzantium a look, it seems interesting.

Monsoon season here is bittersweet, everyone enjoys the little rain our poor parched desert receives but with the impending knowledge that it’s not enough to prevent forest fires and it’s going to end within a month.

I thought Sun Tzu theories of War were considered to be more like go than chess.

But that sounds more like Battleship.

Why can’t people make blockbusters like Total Recall anymore?

Sigh.

First day of sophomore year is over. This may have been the most depressing day I can remember having. I feel like utter shit. Not even my only remaining friend from last year looked eager to talk to me.

So much fucking pressure. I’m overwhelmed and feel a bit ill with sadness.

I feel like if I don’t do something involving a camera in high school I’ll never get into the business of filmmaking. Everything looks bleak at this moment.

Cheer up, Lover. You know what I did after the first day of my sophomore year? Popped in my copy of GTA: Vice City on my PS2, killed every pedestrian I could get my hands on.
