Man, I can’t decide what to do with this thread.
“It’s a prehistoric sand tiger shark.” “Sharks can’t swim in the sand.” “Your party isn’t on the sand, it’s on ice.”
I don’t have any interest in watching the movie, but I think I’d like to listen to the dialogue some time.
Lol
Also out on DVD next week is the long delayed Emma Roberts/Tamsin Edgerton vehicle 4,3,2,1, Detention starring Josh Hutcherson and Dane “I think it’s ok to make jokes about the Aurora, Co shootings” Cook and ATM with Josh Peck and Alice Eve
…. Oh, and the Miley Cyrus vehicle “LOL”
I’m perfectly fine with you doing this Den I just hope you don’t mind me occasionally adding input ;) lol
Thank you for continuing the thread, Den!
I have not seen any Asylum releases. I love Troma and Full Moon.
“Detention starring Josh Hutcherson and Dane “I think it’s ok to make jokes about the Aurora, Co shootings” Cook and ATM with Josh Peck and Alice Eve”
I saw Detention, a great flick! shame it’s going straight to DVD. It’s worlds apart from all those shitty parody films like Scary Movie (More like The Breakfast club meets Scream by Gregg Araki.) It’s very frantic and has some great dialogues. Definitely recommend it!
I want to see ATM because I love to watch people who were actors on children’s shows or apart of children’s networks. Josh Peck is interesting because he’s actually a good actor and most of those kids aren’t.
I always thought Jamie Lynn Spears could have made it in movies, she was range in All That
There’s that show on Nickelodeon called iCarly and the older brother looks like he can handle any kind of material if he were to move on. He plays a character that is maybe 20 something, but he’s well into his thirties I believe.
I agree about that (feel funny to say, I find Icarly kind of entertaining)
I think the blonde girl (Sam) could do fine too but the brother (yup) he likely has bigger things in his future
Tomas, ATM really wasn’t very bad. Many people like to bash it, but I saw it on VOD, and thought that all the actors, especially Josh Peck, did a fine job. Yes, the plot is hokey, and yes, it branches out a little too long, but there is some fun to be had.
And iCarly is just utter trash. The guy you’re thinking of is Jerry Trainor. He’s thirty-five years old and, personally, I just believe he’s the umpteenth Jim Carrey-knockoff.
I think he’d be able to handle a real dramatic script though. I’d love to see him at least try it.
And yeah, I don’t know how many times I’ve caught myself really watching that show.
I have optimism that he could. Same goes with Jim Carrey and a number of other comedic actors who have actually proven themselves worthy of a lead role in a drama. The problem with a majority of these actors is they waste time collecting the check instead of doing things that could better themselves.
But it’s a “take what you can get” kinda world.
That’s the thing. They’re on these shows for so long, they must get to the point when the really need to do something else. Sure they may be under contract or something, but how long has that show been around? A while.
Will be seeing Detention soon
my fiancee has a thing for Josh Hutcherson (having watched Hunger Games, avoided that but want to see Detention).
And Sand Sharks may turn up on SYFY soon, sans nudity, cannot wait tho
ATM is pretty terrible (it’s not the worst thing I’ve seen), but I still like watching these Nick actors do other things. Watching Detention this weekend too.

Some of you may have no interest in the films in this thread.
With apologies to Japeman who started this sort of thread a while back,
I am continuing (mainstream and art house are covered by me and The Dude so why not the direct to market where you are the premiere).
I am interested in a number of straight to dvd releases (Asylum has my attention (I like some of their stuff a lot) because they make action films starring the dad from Family Matters, Dahmer vs Gacy, Nazis at the Center of the Earth and other high concept titles that allow one to know what they are getting. I also like Troma and Full Moon (I look forward to every Puppet Master sequel).
I am making this about obvious straight to vid flicks to make sure there is no overlap with the limited release thread. I am also limiting the releases to those carried by Blockbuster on demand (if I went by amazon, there would be 50 listings).
So here we go:
Randy Couture does not have movie star looks, but that is a good thing for an action hero (think Bronson) plus he has real skills. This looks like an international thriller in the vein of Speed that should appeal a small amount to action fans if there is enough action, is the millionaires name Bruce Lee?
It is amazing how much Corman and his cronies have made of sharks and octopi in recent years. This one has them on the freakin sand. Brooke Hogan did 2 Headed Shark Attack after this film (even tho this is just being released) so if you found her acting less than stellar in that film, you might not care for this one. This looks like a great time in my opinion, Parker Lewis (Corin Nemec) is in it and those sharks move pretty damn quick, hopefully it won’t make the mistake that a lot of these films do by having the shark attack too public and too soon, meaning some of the party, bikini and sexy time fun is gone to be replaced by a lot of running around scared.
