suggestions: A COUPLE OF ROMANTIC COMEDIES FOR THE CRITERION COLLECTION...let me know if you agree...

two of the best romantic comedies and two that have been long denied any “special edition” treatments on home video or DVD…

(both only receiving bare-bone versions)

HAROLD AND MAUDE

(which i’ve harrassed, lol, Jon about for a few years now)

for it to have gone this long without a decent release…and it’s the GREATEST LOVE STORY OF ALL-TIME…is just a crime against humanity!!!

and, MURIEL’S WEDDING

(come on, like it doesn’t make you smile every time you see it and you don’t sing along with the ABBA songs)

This one is pretty obvious “when harry met sally” it’s almost the perfect romantic comedy! Or a nice duo set combined with Reiner’s other little gem “the princess bride”

ABBA music in the collection? This would have to be Blu-ray as my regular DVD player would reject anything with a Criterion mark and “Dancing Queen”. All bad jokes aside, I do agree with your selections and wish to add…

The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human(1999) = so aliens are making a documentary about humans and mating? AWESOME

Sammy and Rosie Get Laid(1987) = punk, London, and a rather screwball plot = quality comedy plus with “Sid & Nancy” out, we need another London love story, speaking of which….

Love Story(1970) = talk about a bare bones release, throw some extras on here especially since this film and “The Godfather” helped save one of Hollywoods biggest studios. Putting this in the collection means never having to say you are sorry.

I definitely agree that it would be awesome to have a Criterion edition of Harold & Maude.

I definitely agree re: Harold and Maude and Muriel’s Wedding. I just saw the latter, and I forget how much I love it.
