Sven Nykvist exists without Ingmar Bergman?!
Just kidding, The Tenant is a great non-Bergman movie he shot, and The Sacrifice.
Tarkovsky’s The Sacrifice
I forgot about “The Tenant” I’ve seen that. “The Sacrifice” I wasn’t aware he worked on, but am very anxious to see. The only Tarkovsky I have seen is “Stalker”.
Don’t forget “The Unbearable Lightness of Being”
Damn you Tim! I was gonna suggest that. Plus, it’s edited by Walter Murch. That’s a combo I wish we could have seen more of.
Agnes of God
Siddhartha
Only You
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
… and a great little film he directed, called THE OX.
You should really check out Louis Malle’s Black Moon. A highly underrated gem!
“Pretty Baby” (Malle again) is a gorgeous film, and Mazursky’s “Willie & Phil” is among my favorite underrated gems.
Desjarlais
I greatly enjoyed his work with Woody Allen and Ingmar Bergman. I was wanting some suggestions of five outstanding films he worked on to check out, other than the aforementioned collaborations .
