I am there!
film schedule went up yesterday:
Ah, Shangri-La! That I want to see! <’,))(
I am coming from South Jersey taking the train from Trenton which I believe will have me end up in Penn Station NY. Anyone know the best way to get to Walter Reade from there? Thanks in advance.
Wally, take the 1 train going uptown from Penn Station and get off at 66th st. and you’re there.
Thanks! I looked it up to see where exactly the subways were located and it doesn’t look complicated.
its super easy, the subway practically leaves you right there
Glad to know. I will be there!
I am beyond jealous.
You should be! Its gonna be awesome :-P
Awesome indeed. =P
Takashi Miike cancels appearance from retrospective :-(
“Japan was violently rocked, swallowed by the ocean as the lives of many disappeared amid the rubble. I had wanted to be here with you all. I had wanted to thank you all for coming from the bottom of my heart. But that wish was not granted. It is unfortunate and I am very sorry. Please accept my regrets. But, from this adversity — on our lives — we will all rise up without fail. As a start, I would be grateful if you could enjoy Japan from my films.
.
Sincerely,
Miike Takashi”

Ah, that’s a shame but completely understandable. Still excited for this series!
I read that last night as well =( As Daniel said, a shame but completely understandable. I’ll be there this Sunday!
Dead or Alive tomorrow! I still need my tickets !
I wish I was rich so I could go to NYC and watch the movies like a boss.
Do yourself a favour New Yorkers, and go see 13 Assassins…frickin’ fantastic, blow-your-mind goodness. It’ll rock your bollocks off!
I want to punch an old lady just because I’m going to miss it.
Anyone hear if Miike might change his plans?
@armands I’m dying to see 13 Assassins, sadly it falls on the worst day for me :-(
@berjuan but the old ladies that go to the film center are so sweet. I met two most adorable ones in line waiting to see Salo.
@raysquirrel in my dreams

Just read this, thought I share:
“Mar. 16 – Mar. 21
On the eve of the release of his all-star samurai epic 13 Assassins, The Film Society and Subway Cinema are proud to present New York’s first major, in-person retrospective of genre-hopping master of cinema Takashi Miike. The prolific Japanese filmmaker first smashed his way into the American consciousness in 2001 with Audition and Ichi the Killer, heralding a wave of “Asian Extreme” sex- and violence-crammed titles. But over 80 films later, Miike has outlasted all attempts to pigeonhole him as a cult director. Featuring everything from major hits to legendary rarities never before screened here. Miike in person for rare U.S. appearance at multiple screenings!
Tickets go on sale Thursday, March 3!"
