What that’s crazy!?!
Yeah, Terrence wrote an entire draft which was eventually chucked after Soderberg decided to write it himself. Malick didn’t write any of those lines in the script, Soderberg rewrote it all himself, but Malick may still be credited because of WGA rules.
The film does have a distinct Malick feel to it though, especially part 2.
I checked and Malick wasn’t credited as a writer at all. Not in any of the credits, or on IMD Pro.
Soderberg most likely used Malick’s treatment as a source material to write the screenplay though.

He ditched the project for “The New World”, and info from sources close to Malick state he aborted the project suddenly. Jack Fisk, was prepping for Che and got a random call from Terry informing him of his sudden change of plans, Fisk was caught off guard, but he understood that it comes with the territory when working with Malick, the filming of “The New World” followed shortly thereafter.
After he left Oxford he also was supposed to do a piece on Che for Time Magazine if I am not mistaken.
I saw the roadshow screening and have a copy of the special program (looks like a Time Magazine spread). Malick’s name is not to be found inside, at least for Part One. If he was involved, it’s not public.
Nick Kostopoulos
I haven’t seen either part of “Che” yet, but apparently Terrence Malick passed the project on to Soderbergh; something of which I was completely unaware.
Interestingly, Malick supposedly wrote the first draft of “Guerrilla” as well, and according to someone who saw the roadshow version, Malick was actually credited as writer; but evidence of this is nowhere to be found on the Internet.
