THANKS, AUTEURS ON THANKSGIVING DAY

Since the Middle East is a day ahead of the U.S., it’s already Thansgiving Day here in the forward deployed combat areas. What a nice way to start the morning when I checked my email to see Death in the Garden among the other Bunuel films featured this month. I’ve only seen it once on a poor copy, surely not a classic but definitely among my favorites, full of Bunuel’s stock characters and macabre humor. Too bad it was frustrating I couldn’t discuss it much here in the past since it seemed very few folks have ever seen the film. Well, that should change.
Thanks lads!
Happy Thanksgiving Day y’all!

Happy Thanksgiving, Noel!

Stay safe or I’ll beat the stuffing out of you!

I have yet to see Death in the Garden, but on the list it goes. Actually, I have yet to see any Bunuel films. Any suggestions on where I should start?

Ryan, stop hogging the mashed potatoes, it’s embarrassing.

@SOYBEAN – “…I have yet to see any Bunuel films. Any suggestions on where I should start?”

I usually tell friends who asked me the same thing to just start with either Andalusian Dog, Los Olvidados or Belle de Jour- pretty much covered different periods and they could go on from there. That usually works.

So… it’s Black Friday, are you guys ready to break the bank and do some shopping spree? Plenty of dvds, books or soundtrack cds to buy. I just got my copy of Z, Made in U.S.A., Ghost World and Mishima dvds in the mail so I’m all good.
Also, you guys still got a 3-day weekend, right? That’s enough time start shit, test the water and show non-mainstream flicks to everyone at grandma’s house. I normally survive the holidays with good-old classics or anything by Blake Edwards (Sunrise was a hit last time I remembered.) I’m sure everyone’s got a funny anecdote about watching flicks with the family.
Therefore, I dare, daaree you to put Stalker, Weekend, Pink Flamingos or Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer on the player so the family can enjoy.
Cheers!
