Finally. Looking forward to it. I still call the other film The Conqueror Worm….
It’s editing is a little too choppy, but I really liked it. The idea of sharing consciousness is very much of its time, but is nicely handled, particularly the idea of whether the ones in the “driver’s seat” feel any sense of responsibility. Lots of weird stroby lights, Karloff looks so old and fragile that you really feel for the guy. No masterpiece, but a good horror film, but very 60s.
A very interesting film as long as you’re not expecting another masterpiece.
Catherine Lacey, the sinister nun in ‘Lady Vanishes’, is even more chilling here.
It can be taken as a kind of allegory of cinema and its vicarious guilty pleasures.
Like ‘Repulsion’ and ‘Blow up’ it takes me back to London in the 60s.
