Luke S.: You said it! I now have a huge list of titles, many very difficult to obtain, from being on site and perusing everyone’s suggestions for films to see. I think the auteurs film view capacity is the way to go here, from the home page, for anything they can pick up and present. That might be the way to go, based on the terrific films discussed on site that are now impossible to see. I agree that both the regular Criterion dvd function and the site forum function can truly compliment one another to make this the best combined film site (films + discussion & analysis) ever. Copyright restrictions and world-wide marketing issues are all that are preventing more of this, and the obvious cost factor. We are getting there, but it may take some time. Hopefully, the online digital revolution is not lost on the Criterion people and someone is listening.
Luke S.
All the magnificent films of the Criterion Collection, combined with everything in the Auteurs, equals primary digital media (dvds, online streaming, community forums, cult following) devoted to classic films and art pictures. Imagine if there were Criterion grade releases of all the Auteur films. That would be a dream come true.
