I’m guessing Chuck De is saying that the depiction of the natural world , and its relation to the human dramas that playout within, is what made the movie (?)

I’m thinking maybe the Editor and Director of I AM LOVE used this as an influence. That also has similar close-ups.

I thought it was the painted peanut shells filmed dropping from a helicopter and then played back in reverse to look like a swarm of locusts were flying up off of the decimated wheat fields that made the movie. But, what do I know?

I’m really glad to learn about the peanut shell effect….gotta show that to a class to demonstrate how a combination of an in-camera trick and a ridiculous prop can express…ineffable sublimity.
